Job description

Welcome to Lava Island

Lava Island is an indoor play oasis where kids fly across trampolines, vanish into towering jungle gyms, dive into foam pits, and race down slides while families share pizza and celebrate birthdays in the party rooms. It is loud, bright, and full of energy.

Every one of those parks started as an empty space. Magma Core Solutions (MCS) is the team that builds them.

What You're Really Building

Most construction work fades into the background. An office floor, a warehouse, another retail box. People walk past it for years and never think about who built it.

This is not that. You are helping build the place that creates the memories families talk about for years. When MCS hands over a finished Lava Island, it does not just open for business. It opens for every family that walks through the doors you built.

Why You'll Love Working at Lava Island

  • Real construction work with real variety. You are not doing the same task all day, every day, for months on end.
  • Something to be proud of at the end. Watch families walk into the park you built.
  • Work alongside a Superintendent who runs the site with you and backs you when it counts.
  • Steady work as Lava Island opens more parks every year.
  • Competitive hourly pay with overtime, real benefits, and, for the right fit, a real path to keep going with MCS on future park builds.

What You'll Do

You are the working presence on site alongside the Superintendent, from an empty leased space through a finished park ready to open. Most days you are in it, tools in hand.

Do the work

  • Perform the hands-on labor that falls to MCS rather than to a specialty subcontractor: drywall, patching, paint, tile and flooring, light framing, trim, fixtures, and general finish work.
  • Handle demolition of the existing space to prep for the build.
  • Prep areas for specialty subs (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, tile, flooring) so they can move through their scope efficiently.
  • Prep walls for our muralists and coordinate on site with our APS team as they install the playground and trampoline attractions.

Keep the site running

  • Stay close to the work. When you spot something drifting off spec or a sub taking a shortcut, bring it to the Superintendent early.
  • Cover the site when the Superintendent is off-site for extended periods. You are not running it solo. The Superintendent, Project Manager, and Director of Construction are all on speed dial. You are the honest set of eyes and ears on the ground.
  • Protect completed work, keep the site clean, and knock down punch list items as they come up.
  • Model safe practices and hold trades to them.

This role is hands-on. If you like being on your feet, using your hands, and moving between trades through the day, you will fit here.

Who We're Looking For

We are hiring Foremen in Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; and Grand Rapids, MI, tied to active park builds in each market. This role is project-based; it starts when we mobilize and runs through park handoff, roughly four to six months.

We're honest about the road ahead: for the right person, we're open to this becoming a traveling role that continues with MCS on future park builds. That is not promised at hire. It is earned. If it works well on both sides, we'll have that conversation before the current project wraps.

The Foremen who do well at MCS are:

  • Multi-trade capable. Comfortable moving between drywall in the morning, paint in the afternoon, and flooring the next day.
  • Steady and dependable. You show up, you hold the pace, you don't need to be pushed.
  • Honest communicators. You surface problems early, plainly, and with what you've seen, not what you're guessing at.
  • Team-oriented. You work well with subs, with APS, and with the Superintendent.
  • Hands-on. Tools-in-hand, not clipboard-in-hand.

What You'll Need

  • Multi-trade construction experience. Comfort and capability across drywall, paint, tile, flooring, light framing, trim, and general finish work.
  • Prior foreman, lead carpenter, or strong journeyman experience. Capability weighs more than title.
  • Ability to work independently on the ground while staying in close contact with the Superintendent and MCS team by phone.
  • Sound judgment about what to escalate and when.
  • Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification as required by the company.
  • Equipment certifications (scissor lift, forklift), or willingness to obtain them.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and move for extended periods on an active construction site, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Tenant improvement (TI) experience in retail or interior build-out is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a strong plus.

A full job description can be shared and walked through with you during the process, so you have the complete picture before moving forward.
