About the job

About OrbitShift

At OrbitShift, we are building the world's first AI-native Sales Operating System, trusted by enterprise teams to accelerate their GTM motion. Our multi-agent AI system enables actionable account insights, RFP response generation, targeted nudges, and sales content. Backed by Peak XV (formerly Sequoia Capital), Stellaris Venture Partners, and other marquee investors, we are a fast-growing, 3-year-old startup with a team from Amazon, McKinsey, IIT, and Stanford.

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to design and own systems that span teams and shape the foundation of our Agentic AI platform for enterprise sales.

Role Overview

As an Senior SDE, you design and own systems that span a team or multiple teams. You apply SOLID and design patterns with judgment — knowing when to use them and when not to — and you design for long-term evolution rather than just the immediate requirement. You drive trade-off, reliability, and operational conversations unprompted, remain deeply hands-on in code, and act as a technical multiplier for the engineers around you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect Systems: Design multi-service systems with clear ownership boundaries — making strong choices on storage, partitioning, caching, sync vs. async paths, and API contracts, and reasoning about how the design evolves as scale grows 10× or requirements shift
  • Raise the LLD Bar: Handle larger, less-bounded problems. Model cleanly, justify pattern choices against alternatives, and design plugin/registry-style extensibility where it earns its place. Handle concurrency, thread-safety, and performance under non-trivial load deliberately
  • Own Hands-On Delivery: Write production-quality code for core platform components and lead complex features end-to-end, from design through deployment and observability.
  • Drive Trade-offs & Reliability: Lead deep trade-off analysis (consistency models, cost vs. latency), define SLOs, identify failure modes and recovery paths, and own observability and capacity planning
  • Shape the AI Platform: Contribute to multi-agent orchestration, reasoning pipelines, memory systems, tool-use frameworks, and evaluation harnesses that detect regressions proactively
  • Technical Leadership: Set engineering standards, lead design reviews, contribute to hiring, and mentor mid- and junior engineers. Represent the team in cross-functional discussions with product and research
  • Evaluate Emerging Tech: Stay ahead of the AI engineering landscape — assess frameworks and tools (LangChain, ADK, LlamaIndex, and similar) and bring the right ones to production with rigorous trade-off analysis.

Requirements

What We're Looking For?

Education:

B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science from a premier institute (IIT, BITS, NIT, or equivalent).

Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering production systems at scale
  • Deep low-level and system design skill; able to own architecture discussions and design reviews for large, ambiguous problems.
  • Strong command of distributed systems, micro services, and cloud-native architectures (AWS), with sound trade-off judgment under ambiguity.
  • Prior experience in a technical lead or staff-engineer capacity, including design ownership and mentorship.
  • Applies SOLID and design patterns with judgment — knows when to abstract and when not to.
  • Proficiency with vector databases (Pine cone, Weaviate, FAISS, or similar) and embedding pipelines for semantic search and retrieval.

Good to Have

  • Experience with LLMs and Agentic systems in production, including fine-tuning or RLHF for domain-specific models
  • Foundation in LLMOps: model evaluation, observability, guardrails, A/B testing, and drift detection
  • Familiarity with coding agents such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or custom agent tooling
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS or enterprise product environment, particularly sales-tech or GTM tooling.

Benefits

Why Join Us?

  • Own meaningful features and services in a category-defining enterprise AI Product.
  • Work alongside a world-class team — engineers from Amazon, McKinsey, IIT, Stanford and top-tier investors including Peak XV and Stellaris
  • Real autonomy over how you build.
