This program focuses on modernizing end-to-end engineering, production, and supply chain processes across a hybrid platform, establishing future-proof logistics architecture, target operating models, and strict clean-core SAP standard practices globally.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Consultant SAP TM operates as a core functional expert within the Transportation Management workstream for the global digital transformation program. This position serves as a primary solution delivery and implementation role, working closely alongside the SAP TM Lead, Solution Architects, and business stakeholders. Focus areas include driving hands-on process design, configuration, integration validation, testing, and deployment execution following the SAP ACTIVATE methodology. The candidate will help realize future-state capabilities within a complex enterprise landscape consisting of SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud ERP and a dedicated side-by-side EWM/TM platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Solution Realization & SAP Customizing:

  • Configure and build approved SAP TM solutions, covering organizational structures, planning profiles, charge calculation, Transportation Cockpit setup, freight settlement, and output management.

  • Support Fit-to-Standard workshops, Fit-Gap analyses, and solution design sessions across Explore, Realize, and Deploy phases.

  • Enforce SAP Clean Core principles and industry best practices during standard solution design and configuration.

• Process Design & Master Data Architecture:

  • Drive functional design across outbound logistics (delivery-based planning, freight execution, carrier assignment), inbound logistics (appointment scheduling, inbound deliveries), and intercompany/plant-to-plant transportation scenarios.

  • Define and validate transportation master data models, including carriers, business partners, transportation networks/lanes, location master data, and freight agreements.

• Testing, Integration & Quality Assurance:

  • Execute hands-on testing across Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Regression Testing, while managing defects to resolution.

  • Support integration design and end-to-end data flow validation between SAP TM and adjacent modules/technologies (SAP EWM, SAP SD, SAP MM, SAP FI, SAP Yard Management, and SAP Integration Suite via IDocs/APIs).

• Enablement, Deployment & Knowledge Transfer:

  • Support go-live preparation, data migration preparation, deployment execution, and hypercare support.

  • Coach less-experienced client team members and facilitate structured knowledge transfer activities throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • Prepare workshop materials and guide business stakeholders through validation, testing, and operational adoption.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience & Background

• Total SAP SCM Experience: 7–12+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Supply Chain Management transformation initiatives.

• SAP TM Implementation: 5+ years of dedicated experience implementing SAP Transportation Management solutions.

• Transformation Projects: Proven track record contributing to large-scale, international SAP S/4HANA rollout projects.

• Methodology: Direct hands-on experience operating within the SAP ACTIVATE framework (specifically Explore > Realize > Deploy > Transition-to-Service).

Functional & Technical Competencies

• Core SAP TM Capabilities: Deep configuration expertise in Transportation Planning/Execution, Freight Order & Freight Unit Management, Freight Settlement, Charge Calculation, Freight Tendering, and the Transportation Cockpit.

• Integration Knowhow: Solid experience configuring and testing interfaces connecting SAP TM with EWM (warehouse/loading integration), SD, MM, Finance, Yard Management, and SAP Integration Suite (APIs, IDocs, event-based frameworks).

• Delivery Acumen: Strong capability to independently analyze, document, and resolve technical/functional issues in alignment with architecture guidelines.

Soft Skills & Collaboration

• Excellent workshop facilitation, communication, and stakeholder enablement skills.

• Strong collaborative mindset to work effectively within multi-disciplinary, internationally distributed delivery teams.

Certifications & Language Requirements & Travel

• Languages: Business fluency in both German and English (mandatory).

• Certifications (Preferred):

  • SAP Certified Application Associate – Transportation Management

  • SAP S/4HANA Logistics / Supply Chain Certification

  • SAP ACTIVATE Project Manager Certification

• Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.
