Job title: Modern Workspace Engineer
Location: Chennai, India     
Reports to: Manager, IT Systems Administration
Contract: Permanent 

Your Role in a Nutshell 

The Modern Workspace Engineer supports the organization’s workstation environment by helping define, maintain, and improve operating system standards, software deployments, and endpoint management practices. This role partners with peers, business users, and technical teams to deliver reliable desktop services, support end-user needs, and contribute to projects that enhance the performance, security, and stability of the workstation ecosystem.

Your Key Responsibilities:

•    Collaborate with peer groups and end users to support workstation operating system standards and desktop image management.
•    Lead and maintain workstation OS standards and images to support consistency, security, and operational effectiveness.
•    Gather requirements for business applications and coordinate software deployments through MECM and Intune for targeted users and groups.
•    Package, test, deploy, and support enterprise applications through MECM and Intune.
•    Support packaging, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise business applications, including SAP and engineering applications.
•    Assist with workstation imaging, deployment processes, and image maintenance.
•    Support patching efforts to help maintain baseline compliance across the workstation environment.
•    Assist with workstation vulnerability mitigation as needed.
•    Troubleshoot user incidents and respond to service requests in a timely and customer-focused manner.
•    Provide basic project coordination, including task tracking, planning support, and status follow-up.
•    Create and maintain documentation related to operating system changes,application deployments, and support procedures.
•    Provide Tier 3 support for escalated workstation, application deployment, and endpoint management issues while contributing to overall queue management and ticket resolution activities.

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or systems engineering preferred
  • Microsoft certifications a plus
  • 4-6 years related job experience required
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting; Python scripting is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MECM and Intune administration.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL commands.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in creation of PowerBI reports from multiple date sources
  • Field technician experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes as needed.
  • Experience with application packaging and software deployment.
  • Experience supporting Windows imaging and deployment processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting application deployment issues.
