We are looking for an experienced Senior Mainframe Application Programmer to join our team and contribute to the development, maintenance, and modernization of critical enterprise systems.
Position Summary
The Senior Mainframe Application Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting complex mainframe applications and enterprise systems. This role requires deep expertise in mainframe technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead technical initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in COBOL-based environments, mainframe databases, transaction processing systems, and enterprise application architecture.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex mainframe applications and software solutions.

Analyze business and system requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

Create and maintain application architecture, technical specifications, and program documentation.

Develop, test, debug, and implement software enhancements and new functionality.

Work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to validate requirements and ensure successful delivery.

Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing application support.

Perform system integration activities between hardware and software components.

Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.

Optimize system performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Ensure compliance with security, governance, and information assurance standards.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and process improvements.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development and programming.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working with IMS, DB2, COBOL, and CICS in enterprise mainframe environments.
- Proven experience in software development lifecycle methodologies including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Experience working with large-scale transactional systems and mission-critical applications.
