The division of the SOM Infectious Disease in the Pediatrics Department is seeking a casual Research Assistant. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University conduct clinical trials and clinical studies to discover new ways to prevent and treat diseases and other health problems. The Research Assistant will provide routine support to the research team by helping implement steps and processes of a clinical research protocol.

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible for supporting research activities for the SMART4TB TA2 Therapeutics study Shortened Regimen for Drug-susceptible TB in Children (SMILE-TB). The Research Assistant will support ongoing regulatory and trial operations of the SMILE-TB protocol implemented at 9 clinical research sites across Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, Indonesia, India, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The overarching goal of this project is to identify short course therapy for tuberculosis among children with tuberculosis. The study will include a phase III trial, costing study and both Pre-trial and Post-trial qualitative research.

This role utilizes pediatric TB clinical expertise alongside experience conducting health related research and knowledge of clinical research practices and principles and applies these skills to the administration of the protocol and assigned projects.

  • Assist with routine contact of study participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
