Job description

At Spiria, we design custom software solutions for organizations with real business challenges to solve through technology. Your role: finding those organizations.

You will open new accounts, understand the real issues behind an initial request, and guide clients toward an approach that creates value. You will not be selling licences or off-the-shelf solutions. Every engagement is different, and you will work with our technical experts to build strong, realistic and compelling proposals.

This is a true hunting role. You open doors, develop your first accounts, and help initial engagements take root and grow.

As a Business Development Director at Spiria, you will:
  • Proactively develop your pipeline through targeted prospecting, networking, event participation and referral development.
  • Qualify the real business needs behind an initial request and rule out opportunities that do not align with our expertise.
  • Develop service proposals in collaboration with technical teams and take ownership of their final validation.
  • Represent Spiria with stakeholders at both the executive and technical levels.
  • Work closely with Marketing to build the sales funnel, without relying solely on inbound leads.
  • Ensure a strong transition to Delivery and Account Management teams, while remaining involved in the growth of the accounts you develop.

  • What you will advise clients on:
  • Custom software development engagements, from product strategy through to delivery.
  • Organizations primarily active in manufacturing, defence, aerospace, financial services and insurance, healthtech, and technology, without being limited to these sectors.
  • Complex engagements involving multiple stakeholders and consultative sales cycles lasting several months.
  • Decision-makers such as VPs of IT, VPs of Product, CIOs, Directors of Digital Transformation, Directors of Engineering and business leaders.
  • The support of a team of more than 150 specialists across Canada: architects, developers, UX designers, QA specialists, project managers and Marketing professionals.
  • The ability to position AI as part of, or as an option within, our service offering.

  • Keys to your success:
  • Demonstrated experience developing new accounts in technology professional services, custom software development, consulting or complex B2B solutions.
  • A genuine hunter mindset: you know how to create conversations where there was no active demand to begin with.
  • Strong consultative selling skills: long sales cycles, multiple decision-makers, undefined budgets and tailored proposals.
  • The judgment to speak about modernization, technical debt, architecture, risk or project scoping without needing to be a developer.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken. French is an important asset in a pan-Canadian context.
  • The autonomy and discipline to manage a territory, maintain a rigorous pipeline and bring in the right people at the right time.
  • Thoughtful use of AI tools to improve your research, preparation, follow-ups and sales effectiveness.
  • Resourcefulness and the ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
  • Willingness and availability to travel occasionally to meet with clients, as business needs require

  • Assets:
  • An active network in financial services, insurance, manufacturing, defence or aerospace is an asset.
  • Experience in a professional services firm.
  • Knowledge of the Toronto market and its business and technology networks.
  • Strong CRM discipline, particularly with HubSpot or Salesforce.

  • Employment details:
  • Flexible work arrangements (remote, hybrid, or in-person), because what truly matters is not where you are, but what you do.
  • Salary range starting at 100K, based on a 37.5-hour workweek.

  • What we offer:
  • Vacation bank of 3 weeks per year.
  • 5 additional fixed days off during the winter holidays.
  • Flexible personal days to handle life’s ups and downs.
  • Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) and RRSP with employer contributions.
  • Group insurance with broad coverage.
  • Telemedicine and Employee Assistance Program via Dialogue.
  • Paid training, certification and association expenses.
  • Spiri-Flex reimbursements of $300 per year for health, ergonomics, and connectivity-related expenses.
  • Work Environment We believe work-life balance is essential. We make this possible through a flexible work organization and a personalized working style. Whether you’re at the office or in your location of choice, what matters most is the impact of your work, not where you're doing it from.   About Us At Spiria, we’re a team of over 150 professionals across Canada. For more than 20 years, we’ve been building custom software solutions driven by a strong commitment to code quality, technological excellence, collaborative creation, and customer satisfaction.   At Spiria, we believe diversity is a major strength. We therefore adhere to the principle of employment equity and encourage applications from women, visible minorities, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, and other marginalized communities.   AI Notice Our recruitment tools use AI to assist in the initial screening of applications, but never replace the intuition and expertise of our recruitment teams.
