Job description

This is a remote position.

Design the high-trust security product experience that helps practitioners make and defend decisions about AI artifacts in minutes.

Organization: an AI supply chain security startup

Location: Remote, with flexible working hours

Role type: Part-time contract, approximately 20 hours per week, for 6 to 8 weeks

Reports to: Head of Design, working day to day with the Engineering Lead and full-stack engineers

The opportunity

Our client is looking for a Product Designer to shape the inventory and scan-details experience for its AI supply chain security platform. You will design high-fidelity, data-rich screens that help a security practitioner decide whether to block, allow or review an artifact, while giving security leaders the evidence they need to defend that decision.

About the organization

Our client scans and inventories the AI artifacts that people and AI agents install, including prompts, skills, MCP servers, hooks, rules files and IDE extensions. Its platform helps security teams see what is in their environment, understand why an artifact received its verdict and act before unsafe artifacts cause harm.

What you will do

•  Design high-fidelity Figma screens for the inventory and scan-details pages, including empty, loading, low-confidence and error states.

•  Create a clear verdict header, findings count and evidence views that explain the reasoning behind a security conclusion.

•  Design for security practitioners who need to act quickly and security leaders who need traceable, defensible evidence.

•  Hand off components in the existing design system, including a concise specification for the evidence pane and verdict header.

•  Review the wider dashboard experience as it adopts shared components from these pages.

•  Work directly with engineering to resolve interaction, information architecture and implementation trade-offs.

Requirements

What you bring

•  A portfolio that includes at least one dense, data-heavy B2B product, ideally in security, observability, developer tools or finance.

•  Experience designing for evidence and explanation, not only attractive dashboards; users need to understand and trust the product’s conclusions.

•  Strong Figma skills and experience creating high-fidelity UI and practical engineering handoff materials.

•  Comfort working directly with engineers in a small, fast-moving team without a design manager in between.

•  Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain design decisions and trade-offs.

Helpful but not essential

•  Experience with cybersecurity or security operations products.

•  Experience with AI, developer tooling or complex findings-based workflows.

•  Experience in a startup or distributed product team.

Benefits

How the engagement works

This is a paid part-time contract engagement, expected to run for 6 to 8 weeks between October and December 2026 at approximately 20 hours per week. Key milestones include high-fidelity designs by week two, design-system handoff by week four and dashboard review through weeks six to eight.

If the work and fit are strong, there may be an opportunity to continue in a full-time or part-time capacity after the initial engagement.

You will contract directly with Apricot, which manages contracting, payments and administrative support. Day to day, you will work with our client and report to the Head of Design. You will need your own laptop, reliable connectivity, a secure work environment and two-factor authentication where required.

To help us align early, You’ll be asked to share your expected fee for the initial engagement and your preferred ongoing arrangement and compensation expectations (full-time or part-time).
