Position Summary

The Senior Mediation Specialist represents the company in telephonic and in-person mediation proceedings while supporting the timely resolution of contested default and loss mitigation matters. This role coordinates with investors, attorneys, borrowers, and internal partners to communicate loan modification decisions, case status, available options, timelines, and borrower obligations.

The position also tracks documentation required for mortgage workout reviews, documents mediation outcomes, supports contested default case management, and reviews and signs affidavits and verifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in settlement negotiations to help resolve cases while minimizing company risk and investor losses.

  • Respond to borrower and attorney inquiries regarding loss mitigation, loan modifications, short sales, deeds-in-lieu, and foreclosure-related plans.

  • Conduct outbound calls to understand borrower circumstances, request documentation, and communicate decisions and next steps.

  • Identify and request documentation required for loss mitigation review in accordance with investor guidelines.

  • Use multiple servicing systems to research loan terms and provide accurate case information.

  • Coordinate with internal departments to communicate status, options, key dates, next steps, and deadlines.

  • Ensure completed packages and supporting information are received, maintained, tracked, and logged in Sara in a timely manner.

  • Partner with attorneys and borrowers to complete and close loan modifications and obtain broker information for short-sale processing.

  • Document all loss mitigation activity and mediation appearance results.

  • Represent the company as a corporate representative or witness at hearings, mediations, trials, and depositions.

  • Review and sign affidavits and verifications related to contested and litigated matters and discovery requests, including motions for summary judgment, requests for production, interrogatories, and requests for admission.

  • Collaborate with case managers and foreclosure specialists to process document-signing requests.

  • Escalate issues to management when needed to support timely, high-quality service.

  • Contribute to team and volume goals while delivering strong customer service.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, or an associate degree from an accredited college plus paralegal certification.

  • Two or more years of experience working as a paralegal.

  • Two to four years of mortgage experience and/or training.

  • Paralegal certification.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Sound judgment, teamwork, and a strong customer-service orientation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with MSP, Black Knight/LPS, and Fiserv.

Travel and Work Environment

  • Occasional travel may be required within Florida and across the United States.

  • This role works in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels.
