Job description

About the Role

We are looking for experienced Internal Appointment Setters / SDRs to join a fast-paced, fully remote outbound sales environment.

This is a pure B2B cold-calling role focused on speaking directly with US small and mid-sized business owners and sales leaders. You will be responsible for opening conversations, identifying genuine business needs, handling objections confidently, and booking qualified 30-minute sales meetings.

This position is best suited to someone who already understands the rhythm and discipline of outbound prospecting — including call volume, connect rates, follow-up, meeting conversion and rebooking no-shows.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Make high-volume outbound cold calls to US-based small and mid-sized businesses.
  • Maintain an average calling pace of approximately 20–25 dials per hour.
  • Speak directly with business owners, decision-makers and sales leaders.
  • Follow a structured cold-calling methodology and sales script.
  • Identify whether prospects have a genuine business need and qualify opportunities accordingly.
  • Book qualified 30-minute sales meetings and secure them on the calendar.
  • Follow up consistently with prospects who request a callback.
  • Proactively rebook prospects who no-show rather than treating the opportunity as lost.
  • Maintain accurate prospect statuses, notes, follow-ups and meeting information within the CRM.
  • Provide a concise end-of-shift update covering calls, conversations, meetings booked and outstanding follow-ups.
  • Participate in ongoing sales coaching, call reviews, role-play sessions and team training.

Performance Expectations

The role operates in a measurable, performance-driven environment. The initial benchmark is approximately one booked meeting for every two hours of calling, with performance expected to progress toward approximately one appointment per hour.

Successful candidates should be comfortable discussing and working against metrics such as:

  • Daily dial volume
  • Connect/conversation rates
  • Conversations-to-meeting conversion
  • Meeting show rates
  • Weekly meetings booked

Essential Experience & Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • A minimum of 12 months' experience in a genuine outbound cold-calling role.
  • Recent outbound calling experience gained within the last two years.
  • Proven B2B sales, appointment-setting or SDR experience.
  • Experience cold calling rather than working primarily with warm inbound enquiries.
  • Experience selling or prospecting into the US or UK market, or demonstrable ability to communicate effectively with US prospects.
  • Strong experience handling objections and maintaining composure during difficult calls.
  • A clear, warm, professional and easy-to-understand speaking voice suitable for engaging US business owners.
  • Strong knowledge of their own outbound sales metrics and previous performance.
  • A persistent but professional approach to follow-up and rebooking.
  • The ability to work independently and remain productive throughout a remote evening shift.
  • A coachable mindset and willingness to follow an established sales methodology.

Communication Style

We are looking for someone who sounds warm, confident, composed and unhurried on the phone. Strong candidates know how to slow a conversation down, ask effective questions, leave space for the prospect to respond and remain calm when faced with objections or rejection.

The ability to maintain the right tone under objection is particularly important.

Remote Working Requirements

As this is a phone-intensive remote position, candidates must have:

  • A quiet, dedicated home working environment with no disruptive background noise.
  • Stable and reliable internet, preferably with a wired connection.
  • A reliable backup solution for internet or power interruptions.
  • A working computer.
  • A professional-quality headset.
  • A webcam for meetings, training and coaching sessions.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday – Full Time

  • Until 1 November 2026: 16:00 – 00:00 SAST
  • From 1 November 2026: 17:00 – 01:00 SAST

Candidates must be genuinely comfortable working these hours on a permanent basis.

Systems & Tools

The role uses:

  • CRM software for daily prospect lists, call notes, statuses and meeting logging
  • Cloud-based phone systems
  • Calendar and meeting-booking tools
  • AI-supported role-play and training tools

Previous experience with a specific CRM platform is not required, provided you are comfortable learning new sales technology.

What Will Make You Stand Out

You are likely to excel in this position if you have 1–5 years of recent B2B outbound appointment-setting or SDR experience, can confidently explain your previous cold-calling metrics, understand that follow-up is a major part of appointment generation, and remain calm and personable when prospects push back.

There is also potential for strong performers with leadership capability to grow into team-lead responsibilities as the remote sales team expands.

Benefits

Compensation

USD $1,600 – $2,000 per month, depending on experience, demonstrated performance and seniority.

Candidates with a strong track record of producing results and the potential to progress into leadership may be considered toward the upper end of the range.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates should be prepared to complete a practical outbound sales assessment, including questions about previous calling metrics, objection-handling scenarios and a short live cold-call role-play.

The assessment is designed to evaluate outbound experience, numbers fluency, follow-up instinct, call presence and coachability.
