Job description

What You'll Do:

Avalara is looking for a Senior Strategic Alliance Manager who thrives on turning potential into performance—someone who can take smaller partners and grow them into strategic, revenue-driving relationships. This role is equal parts relationship builder and business driver, focused on unlocking new opportunities, strengthening partner engagement, and scaling impact within key ecosystems.

This is a fully remote, US-based position reporting to our Senior Manager, Strategic Alliances

Must be able to be partner facing by travel or video conference (50-60%)

What Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • You will develop specific partner plans to drive internal/external execution of objectives
  • You will manage partner sales pipeline and provide forecasts to management
  • You will present the Avalara value message to multiple levels of an organization
  • You will report on progress planning, activities, and partner performance on a regular basis
  • You will lead and participate in regular QBRs with channel leadership
  • You will contribute to partner marketing efforts with the help of Partner Marketing Managers for marketing and co-marketing opportunities (lunch-n-learns, seminars, webinars, campaigns, trade shows)
  • You will build out and maintain partner profile information and contact information in CRM and other systems
What You'll Need to be Successful:
  • 5+ years of experience in channel development, business development or strategic alliances in the SMB ecosystem.
  • Experience with the Quickbooks/Intuit ecosystem a plus
  • Experience leveraging a partner ecosystem to build and close deals by working across all levels of the organization.
  • Possess a solid sales foundation with an outgoing, optimistic personality.
  • Flexible and adaptable self-starter with the ability take ownership and initiative approaching all tasks and projects proactively.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple workstreams and prioritize competing projects.
  • Must be able to present both in person and online with effective presentation skills.
  • Competency with Salesforce, Outlook, Excel and Office Suite, Atlassian/Jira a plus.

Pay Range Details

The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Colorado $94,620 - $151,380 (annually) (OTE)

Washington $94,620 - $167,340 (annually) (OTE)

California $94,600 - $183,240 (annually) (OTE)

NYC $104,580 - $183,240 (annually) (OTE)

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate's actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

This role is eligible for the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and the employee's role.
