Job Description Summary

Reporting to the ACIS Field Operations Manager, the Senior Field Service Technician is responsible for the full lifecycle support of AC Substation systems, including pre-commissioning, start-up, and ongoing maintenance. In this hands-on role, you will perform rigorous testing during commissioning and provide long-term operational support—including preventative and corrective maintenance, detailed inspections, and complex troubleshooting—to ensure the safety, quality, and peak performance of our utility and industrial customers' ACIS substation equipment

Essential Responsibilities

As a ACIS Senior Field Techncial you are responsible for;

  • Commissioning & Start-up: Execute electrical and mechanical pre-commissioning tests on auxiliary systems, HV Breakers, HV DS and ACIS substation plants. Perform instrument functionality verification to ensure a smooth system start-up.

  • Lifecycle Maintenance: Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and responsive corrective maintenance to minimize downtime. Perform detailed equipment inspections to identify potential risks or performance degradation.

  • Troubleshooting & Resolution: Act as the primary technical point of contact for on-site troubleshooting. Diagnose complex technical issues, document root causes (RCA), and implement effective solutions to restore system functionality.

  • Participate in the support of the 24/7 Support hotline – based on rotational needs

  • Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLD), general arrangement drawings, and installation/commissioning procedures to ensure accurate work execution.

  • Safety & Compliance: Serve as an EHS leader on-site. Strictly implement LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) procedures and ensure all activities comply with GE, OSHA, NFPA70, and project-specific safety standards.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate site logs, write comprehensive technical reports, and manage administrative requirements (timesheets, expenses, status reports) with thoroughness and timeliness.

  • Customer & Team Interface: Act as a technical representative for GE GSI, fostering professional relationships with customers and collaborating across cross-functional teams.

  • Training & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and supporting the development of the broader field team

Mandatory Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven field experience in electrical power systems.
  • Languages: English is mandatory
  • Travel 75%
  • Logistics: Valid US work authorization and availability for work on project sites across the US

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong field leadership and decision-making
  • Technical Expertise: Strong hands-on knowledge of ACIS substation apparatus, specifically Circuit Breakers and Disconnect Switches. Experience supervising high-voltage substations is required. 
    Asset: Experience with GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear)* is highly desirable.
  • Safety Standards: Strong understanding of EHS requirements for high-voltage project sites. Knowledge of NETA, NERC, and IEC requirements; OSHA 30 and NFPA70 certification is highly preferred.
  • Operational Skills: Ability to troubleshoot under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and perform high-quality work in dynamic environments.
  • Communication: Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple contractors and interfaces simultaneously
  • High attention to safety, quality, and detail
  • Practical problem-solving in construction environments
  • Ability to work under schedule pressure while maintaining standards

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
