Position Overview

The Director, Data and Technology Services supports the mission of OCHIN by providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for enterprise data services, data conversion, data extraction, internal tools development, and technology enablement functions. This role is responsible for ensuring technology and data services are aligned with organizational priorities, support member needs, and deliver measurable business value.  

The Director leads through managers and senior technical professionals, providing leadership across Data Management, Data Extraction, Data Conversion, Internal Tools Development, and the Technology Enablement & Automation team. This role is expected to move beyond day-to-day management by defining future-state capabilities, developing multi-year strategies, identifying emerging organizational needs, and ensuring technology investments support OCHIN's long-term objectives. 

The Director partners closely with executive leadership, business stakeholders, clinical leaders, and technology teams to shape strategy, influence investment decisions, reduce organizational risk, and build scalable capabilities that support future growth. 

Essential Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership across Data Management, Data Extraction, Data Conversion, Internal Tools Development, and Technology Enablement functions. 
  • Develop and execute multi-year roadmaps for enterprise data services, internal applications, automation, analytics enablement, and technology modernization. 
  • Partner with executive, operational, clinical, and technology leaders to identify emerging business needs and translate them into scalable technology and data strategies. 
  • Anticipate future organizational demands, operational risks, technology shifts, and capability gaps, developing plans to address them before they impact business performance. 
  • Establish governance processes for demand management, portfolio planning, prioritization, resource allocation, and investment decisions. 
  • Build organizational capability by developing managers and technical leaders who demonstrate ownership, accountability, innovation, and strategic thinking. 
  • Drive modernization of technologies, processes, operating models, and service delivery approaches to improve scalability, reliability, efficiency, and member value. 
  • Provide executive oversight of enterprise data platforms, reporting services, ETL/ELT and integration services, data conversion operations, data extraction services, internal application development, and automation capabilities. 
  • Establish and monitor performance measures focused on business outcomes, service value, operational maturity, customer satisfaction, and risk reduction. 
  • Lead cross-functional planning and decision-making to align investments, resolve competing priorities, and advance enterprise objectives. 
  • Develop and manage budgets, vendor relationships, technology investments, software licensing, and contracts aligned with long-term organizational strategy. 
  • Foster a culture of strategic thinking, accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across Data and Technology Services 
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred - candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher will be given priority.
  • Ten or more years of progressive leadership experience across technology services, development, analytics, data services, or enterprise systems IS REQUIRED. (Managing director reports (Project/Program or team lead management in not applicable).
  • Five or more years leading managers and multi-functional technology organizations required
  • Experience overseeing data platforms, application development, analytics, reporting services, technology operations, or related functions. 
  • Demonstrated success driving organizational transformation, service modernization, operational excellence, and strategic change. 
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps, organizational strategies, and investment plans. 
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, contracts, software licensing, and technology investments. 
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, business partnership, and strategic planning skills. 
  • Experience in healthcare, healthcare technology, or Epic-related environments preferred; experience in another large scale EHR systems will be considered.  

Base Pay Overview 

OCHIN uses broadened pay ranges to support equitable and market-aligned compensation practices. The final offer will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant skills, certifications, education, experience, training, responsibilities, internal equity, and market data.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Constant interpersonal skills, teamwork, and customer service. Frequent creativity, mentoring, presentations, and teaching. Occasional decision making and independent judgment or action.  
  • Reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.  
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. 
  • This position requires a virtual home-office environment, working remotely and will require that employees be on camera for all virtual meetings
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and mobile devices. 
  • Travel is required to support OCHIN’s business requirements for go-live installations or training which may require travel by air, vehicle, or train. 

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position. 

Work from home requirements are: 

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment 
  • High Speed Internet Service 
  • It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace 
  • Travel may be up to 15% nationally for on-site Go Live support based on business requirements for OCHIN
