About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Level 3 AWS Cloud Engineer to join an Infrastructure Services team supporting fast-paced, cloud-focused customer environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on cloud professional with strong AWS expertise and experience designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure.

You will work extensively with Infrastructure as Code, containerisation, serverless technologies, cloud security, monitoring, and CI/CD, while collaborating with DevOps, software engineering, and security teams to deliver robust production-grade solutions.

Ideal Profile

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
  • Strong hands-on expertise across AWS services including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, and IAM.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  • Proven experience designing and managing production-grade cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and Linux environments.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with Terraform preferred.
  • Understanding of IaC best practices including version control, modularisation, reusability, and automated provisioning.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
  • Strong Git and GitHub workflow experience.

Containers & CI/CD

  • Experience managing containerised applications using ECS and/or Kubernetes.
  • Kubernetes experience with EKS, AKS, or self-managed clusters is highly desirable.
  • Experience collaborating with development teams to implement CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and/or GitLab CI.

Monitoring, Security & Databases

  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and Azure Monitor.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security practices, including IAM, encryption, and network security.
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
  • Understanding of cloud compliance and organisational security standards.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure

  • Design, deploy, manage, and maintain cloud-based solutions primarily across AWS, with additional exposure to Microsoft Azure.
  • Build highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments.
  • Manage and optimise AWS infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, databases, serverless, and identity services.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders on cloud infrastructure initiatives.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
  • Apply best practices for version control, modularisation, reusability, and maintainability across IaC solutions.
  • Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve infrastructure deployment and operational efficiency.

Containers & CI/CD

  • Deploy, manage, and optimise ECS and Kubernetes environments supporting containerised applications.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement effective CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support deployment automation and improve the reliability and consistency of software delivery processes.
  • Troubleshoot container and deployment-related issues across production environments.

Monitoring, Performance & Cost Optimisation

  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Optimise cloud resource utilisation to improve cost efficiency and application performance.
  • Investigate incidents and implement appropriate improvements to maintain service reliability.

Security & Collaboration

  • Apply cloud security best practices across IAM policies, encryption, networking, and infrastructure configuration.
  • Ensure cloud environments align with relevant organisational and industry compliance standards.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external DevOps, software engineering, and security teams.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry practices to continuously improve infrastructure services.
