Job description

We are seeking a Technical Systems Engineer to plan, drive, and coordinate deliverables in a SW platform organization. Multiple teams across Terma deliver components that support this platform; technical coordination, system-level thinking, and roadmap development are essential to maintaining delivery speed. Join our SW Platform team and help safeguard our nation and allies.

Throughout history, periods of geopolitical tension and conflict have accelerated technological advancement. Today, while we are neither at war nor at peace, the need to rapidly develop, scale, and deploy emerging technologies has once again become critical to ensuring the security of our nation and its allies.

As an organization, we are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes, as we deliver advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry. Our systems provide security for people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for a Senior Technical Systems Engineer to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.

As part of this effort, we are implementing a range of new technologies. We recognize that the skills required to successfully scale, deploy, and operate emerging technologies differ from those needed to invent them. Therefore, we are building a new team dedicated to transforming cutting-edge prototypes into operational, scalable, and reliable force multipliers, delivered through a scalable SW platform.

If you are energized by complex technical challenges, passionate about creating structure and overview in a dynamic environment, and motivated to coordinate and drive deliverables, then this is an opportunity to shape the backbone of a cutting-edge, data-intensive cloud platform.

Your role in our team

As our new Senior Technical Systems Engineer, you will contribute by creating strong coordination and alignment across the different teams involved in the SW Platform. You will help ensure that technical dependencies, priorities, and deliverables are clearly understood and that teams are moving towards the same overall business objective across our organization. You will be at the forefront of developing and operationalizing emerging technologies into mission-critical systems.

By taking a system-level view, you will help connect the work of individual teams to the broader roadmap, identify potential risks or dependencies early, and support informed technical decisions. You will also contribute to maintaining momentum by driving follow-up on deliverables, facilitating communication between teams, and ensuring that challenges are addressed before they impact the overall delivery.

You will become part of our SW Platform team consisting of dedicated engineers and specialists working closely with software, hardware, and infrastructure. Most of our team is located at our office in Søborg, but occasional trips to HQ in Lystrup are to be expected.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

Your key responsibilities include:

    • Collaborate with data scientists, platform engineers, software developers, infrastructure and test engineers to specify, develop, verify, and validate software platform solutions
    • Engage with Business Development and customers to understand their needs and translate customer insights into viable technical solutions that meet customer requirements and support our commercial ambitions
    • Absorb complex technical subjects, document them, and communicate key concepts in a clear and easy-to-understand manner
    • Engage in team alignment activities and share knowledge and best practices with fellow systems engineers

Bring your world class expertise into play

You are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement. The ideal candidate brings some of the following qualifications:

    • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
    • Experience in system development, preferably within systems engineering or software architecture, including close collaboration with software development teams and experience producing system specifications
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and technical coordination skills, including the ability to break down complex system challenges into manageable components
    • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams and the flexibility to adapt to evolving project needs

It is an advantage to have experience leading a team as Scrum Master, limited experience leading a team in a software development environment or, alternatively, a demonstrated interest in developing leadership capabilities. Furthermore, preferred but not required skills and interests include:

    • Experience with Java and/or Python
    • Exposure to cloud platform operations and operational processes
    • Experience leading or mentoring software engineers

Beyond technical expertise, we are looking for someone who thrives in an interdisciplinary environment, is able to manage stakeholders effectively, and takes ownership of progress and results. You are a proactive team player who values clear communication, structured thinking, and has a strong analytical mindset. Your ability to navigate different levels of abstraction will be key to your success in this role.
