Job Summary:

The Director of Sales will lead sales strategy, customer development, channel performance, forecasting, and commercial execution for the NCC and VIS product lines within AMETEK’s Instrumentation, Controls & Vision Systems (ICVS) business unit. This role is responsible for delivering profitable growth, achieving orders and sales targets, improving margin performance, strengthening customer relationships, and building disciplined commercial processes across NCC and VIS. The Director will work closely with business unit leadership, product management, customer service, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, distributors, representatives, OEM customers, and key end users to develop and execute growth plans that support the ICVS strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and action plans that achieve NCC and VIS orders, sales, margin, and share-growth objectives.
  • Lead major account planning for key NCC and VIS customers, including customer segmentation, opportunity prioritization, stakeholder mapping, executive engagement, and clear account-level action plans.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities in core and adjacent markets, including OEM accounts, geographic expansion, aftermarket programs, major customer platforms, and new product opportunities.
  • Evaluate the performance, coverage, agreements, and incentive structures of distributors and sales representatives to ensure appropriate market reach and accountability.
  • Own the NCC and VIS sales and orders forecasting process by key customer, program, item, and market segment to support financial reporting, SIOP, production planning, and capacity decisions.
  • Ensure disciplined use of CRM, Oracle, Power BI, and related reporting tools to maintain accurate pipeline, quote, backlog, forecast, customer, and activity data.
  • Develop and monitor sales performance metrics, including orders, sales, backlog, quote activity, forecast accuracy, pipeline conversion, win/loss, price realization, margin performance, and customer health.
  • Partner with finance, product management, operations, and customer service to understand cost drivers, backlog exposure, price realization, and gross-margin bridge impacts.
  • Support quote-to-order process improvements that improve speed, accuracy, consistency, and customer experience while maintaining commercial discipline.
  • Support technology roadmaps, new product priorities, NPI opportunity tracking, product planning for NCC and VIS.
  • Work with product management and engineering to translate customer needs into clear commercial requirements, application priorities, pursuit strategies, and value propositions.
  • Collaborate with marketing, customer service, operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain to resolve customer issues, protect/grow strategic relationships, and support customer commitments.
  • Hire, develop, motivate, and coach sales, customer service, and commercial team members as assigned to build a high-performance culture.
  • Build standard work, best practices, and a proactive sales operating rhythm focused on accountability, speed, data-driven decisions, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to ICVS strategic planning, budgeting, quarterly reporting, operating reviews, and commercial planning deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related technical or commercial discipline; will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive B2B sales, sales management, business development, commercial leadership, or related experience in industrial, electronics, controls, instrumentation, vehicle, OEM, or engineered-product markets.
  • Experience developing and executing sales strategies that deliver profitable growth, customer penetration, and sustainable revenue performance.
  • Experience leading direct sales teams and/or indirect channels, including distributors, manufacturer representatives, agents, or regional sales resources.
  • Experience with technical selling, application-driven customer needs, value-based proposals, negotiation, pricing, and customer relationship management.
  • Experience with forecasting, pipeline management, CRM discipline, account planning, sales metrics, and financial reporting in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams, developing talent, setting expectations, and driving accountability without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Executive presence with the ability to communicate clearly with senior leaders, major OEM customers, technical stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, CRM systems, AI, and business reporting tools.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic controls such as cameras or instrument clusters, other displays, heavy-duty vehicles, commercial vehicles, industrial equipment, food service equipment, or related OEM applications.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, Power BI, and structured sales reporting or dashboard environments.
  • Demonstrated success improving forecast accuracy, quote-to-order performance, sales processes, customer segmentation, channel effectiveness, and price realization.
  • Experience supporting new product development, product management, NPI tracking, product roadmaps, VOC processes, or engineered custom solutions.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, SIOP, operations, supply chain, or academy-company background.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and technical aptitude, with the ability to learn from engineers, customers, application experts, and product teams and translate that knowledge into commercial action.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
