Job description

Opportunity Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding data analyst to join a Series B digital health company. You will work closely with clinicians, program implementation, operation experts, informaticists, data scientists, and actuaries to support data-driven clinical programs. These programs are essential in improving a) payor/provider/patient collaboration, b) quality of care and patient outcomes, and c) healthcare utilization and spending efficiency. The work will be fast-paced and project-based, with evolving needs requiring adaptability, curiosity, and grace under pressure.  

What you’ll do:

  • Cultivate a deep understanding of Cohere’s clinical content, UM products and clinical programs and use analytics to produce insights to drive program effectiveness and value for internal business partners and clients.
  • Lead clinical analytics projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary partners, to understand business needs, clinical nuances, formulate plans, build and maintain analytical and reporting solutions.
  • Independently lead in-depth analyses and Identify optimization opportunities by applying statistical data mining, and predictive modeling methods on administrative and clinical health data.
  • Track cost, utilization, and industry trends to inform stakeholders of product performance and provide data-driven insights around opportunities to optimize clinical value for patients, providers and payors.
  • Collaborate with clinical, account management, data science, and engineering partners to refine Cohere’s product features and client support.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, mentor junior analysts.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation and present findings or recommendations to company leadership and internal stakeholders

What you’ll need:

  • Work experience:
    • 7+ years of experience working in a big-data analytics role.
    • 2+ years of hands-on project leadership experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Collaboration: Experience interfacing with internal and external business stakeholders on the development and read out of client and program specific KPIs.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Ability to use statistical analysis and modeling tools (such as SQL and Python) to extract insights from complex healthcare data, interpret trends, and derive actionable recommendations.
  • Healthcare Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare systems, medical terminologies, clinical workflows, and experience with large data sets including medical claims, pharmacy, and eligibility data.
  • Data Visualization: experience developing dashboards and self service business intelligence tools such as Tableau.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Project Execution: Experience owning complex projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, setting goals, and meeting deadlines for multiple ongoing projects.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to identify issues within healthcare data, devise solutions, and think critically to develop scalable solutions to problems.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or quantitative discipline such as Epidemiology, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Health Informatics, Public Health or related field required.

Bonus:

  • Experience with clinical and utilization management programs for specialty care (e.g.  musculoskeletal, cardiology, imaging, oncology, pharmacy).
  • Experience working with unstructured data from EMR/EHR systems (e.g. office visit notes, imaging reports).
  • Familiarity with AWS Athena and Sagemaker.
  • Master’s degree in healthcare or quantitative field.

The salary range for this position is $112,000 to $125,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
