Job description

About the role

At Mercury, we believe financial operations should be seamless, scalable, and built on a foundation of trust. The Reconciliation team develops the products, processes, and controls that protect the accuracy and integrity of Mercury’s core financial systems and money movement.

In this role, you will lead the evolution of reconciliation at Mercury, including the key financial controls that enable operational excellence, strong governance, and end-to-end auditability. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Accounting to automate complex workflows, strengthen control coverage, and ensure issues are detected, investigated, and resolved quickly.

Our goal is to make financial accuracy a given. You’ll help build a reconciliation platform that is reliable, transparent, and scalable—giving Mercury confidence in every transaction and enabling us to grow without compromising financial integrity.

*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.

What you’ll do

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Mercury’s reconciliation platform, including the critical work required to support Mercury’s bank charter
  • Partner deeply with engineers to understand how financial data moves through Mercury’s systems, including schemas, transformations, dependencies, and failure modes
  • Work closely with other Product teams, Accounting, Finance, and Reconciliation Operations to define priorities and deliverables
  • Evolve Mercury’s reconciliation platform to handle long term scale, simplifying integration and enabling teams across the company to benefit from unified reconciliation systems and tooling
  • Build tools that help internal teams identify discrepancies, understand their causes, resolve them quickly, and report accurately
  • Bring structure to a highly cross-functional problem space, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term platform leverage
  • Develop a deep understanding of Mercury’s money movement and accounting systems and use that context to make clear product and technical tradeoffs

What you bring

  • 7+ years of product management experience working on technical platforms, infrastructure, data products, or similarly complex systems
  • Strong systems thinking, with a bias toward reusable primitives and durable platform solutions over one-off fixes
  • A track record of independently driving ambiguous work from problem definition through delivery
  • Exceptional cross-functional partnership skills, with the ability to understand competing needs and make thoughtful prioritization decisions
  • The ability to operate at two altitudes: driving near-term execution while developing a clear point of view on what the platform should become
  • A deep commitment to correctness, reliability, and the details that make internal systems trustworthy

It would be particularly useful if you have

  • Experience working on platform products involving audits, financial controls, or regulatory requirements
  • Built or managed systems related to payments, ledgers, accounting, financial operations, or data infrastructure
  • Worked on internal platforms serving many downstream teams

You do not need prior reconciliation experience to be successful in this role. We care more about whether you have the platform instincts, technical fluency, and operating range to learn the domain deeply and build the right system for Mercury to scale.
