Piping Designer

This is a remote position.

Design Hire is seeking a Piping Designer to support complex piping layouts, pipe routing, and mechanical design work for highly regulated industrial facilities. This role is a strong fit for someone who can work in AutoCAD, review models in Navisworks, think spatially in 3D, and support accurate design packages for plant modification and equipment-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop piping layouts, pipe routing plans, equipment drawings, and related mechanical design documentation.
• Support piping modifications, equipment replacement work, system layout updates, and field-driven design changes.
• Coordinate piping and mechanical layouts with structural, electrical, civil, and field constraints.
• Use AutoCAD and Navisworks to review layouts, identify conflicts, and support model-based coordination.
• Work with engineering teams to document system interfaces, support locations, equipment requirements, and installation details.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Piping Designer, Pipe Support Designer, Mechanical Designer, or related plant design role.
• Strong AutoCAD experience required.
• Navisworks experience preferred.
• Ability to think in 3D and understand how piping, supports, equipment, and surrounding systems fit together in the field.
• Background supporting nuclear, power generation, industrial, or highly regulated facility projects preferred.
• Experience with pipe routing, pipe supports, racks, plant modifications, and mechanical layout design.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping layouts, equipment drawings, specifications, and field information.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and ability to coordinate across multi-discipline engineering teams.
