Job description

Thermal Works LLC has an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Product Testing Technician to to support R&D lab operations and equipment testing. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, testing, and troubleshooting thermal systems and components used in product development and validation.

This position is ideal for someone with strong field experience in refrigeration, hydronic systems, and electrical power who is comfortable working in a lab environment where systems are frequently built, modified, and tested.

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Set up, operate, and modify thermal system test loops
  • Perform hands-on testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
  • Support development and execution of test procedures
  • Collect and validate performance data (temperature, flow, pressure, power)
  • Identify issues and support root cause analysis
  • Assist with system improvements and design feedback
  • Maintain lab equipment and testing infrastructure
  • Ensure safe handling of refrigerants and compliance with applicable regulations

Qualifications

Required:

  • EPA certification (or equivalent) for refrigerant handling
  • Strong hands-on experience with refrigeration systems
  • Experience with hydronic systems (pumps, valves, glycol/water systems)
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (single- and three-phase power)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Proven troubleshooting ability across mechanical and electrical systems

Preferred:

  • Experience in lab testing or product development environments
  • Familiarity with controls, sensors, and instrumentation
  • HVAC/R technical training or equivalent experience
