Role Summary

The Vice President of Platform & Architecture will lead the shared technology foundations that enable Gravie to build scalable products, improve engineering effectiveness, and accelerate the adoption of AI within Engineering.

This leader will own platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, architecture, developer experience, quality engineering enablement, and product support operations. Key mandates include building Gravie’s AI platform for customer-facing product capabilities and advancing agentic development practices across engineering.

This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role. The VP will remain deeply engaged in architecture, platform design, and emerging technology, personally engaging in critical technical decisions, problem-solving, and prototyping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute Gravie’s platform, architecture, and cloud strategy, creating the shared technology foundation required for scalable product development and business growth.

  • Own a prioritized platform roadmap informed by product strategy, engineering needs, and business priorities, ensuring investments drive adoption and measurable organizational value.

  • Lead architecture across shared services and product domains, resolving systemic technical risks and guiding major cross-team technology decisions.

  • Go deep on consequential technical decisions, personally engaging in architecture, design reviews, technology evaluation, prototyping, and complex engineering problem-solving when doing so accelerates learning, establishes direction, or reduces risk.

  • Establish technical standards and platform practices that improve reliability, security, resilience, developer experience, and cloud cost efficiency.

  • Build Gravie’s AI platform, including secure model access, agent orchestration, retrieval and knowledge services, evaluation, observability, guardrails, and model lifecycle management.

  • Lead the adoption of agentic development across Engineering, including tooling, standards, training, workflow redesign, and measurement of improvements in engineering productivity, delivery, and quality.

  • Establish shared quality engineering practices, tooling, and automation that improve release confidence, test effectiveness, and engineering velocity.

  • Lead product support operations, establishing the processes, tooling, and cross-functional operating model for issue identification, triage, escalation, root-cause analysis, and resolution across Customer Operations, Product, and Engineering.

  • Partner with Customer Operations to deploy AI agents and automation that improve support effectiveness, employee productivity, and customer experience.

  • Build and develop a high-performing organization while partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Security, Privacy, Legal, Operations, and business leadership.

Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience in platform engineering, architecture, infrastructure, and developer experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on technical executive, moving fluidly between executive strategy, architecture and system design, technical reviews, prototyping, and detailed engineering problem-solving.

  • Demonstrated success building shared platforms used by multiple product and engineering teams.

  • Track record of improving engineering productivity, platform reliability, and operational effectiveness.

  • Experience building technical foundations for AI capabilities embedded in customer-facing products.

  • Experience with generative AI architecture, agent orchestration, retrieval, evaluation, observability, and production operations.

  • Experience driving the adoption of agentic development practices across an engineering organization.

  • Experience applying AI agents in customer service, internal operations, or software development.

  • Experience establishing or leading product support operations, production issue management, or similar cross-functional capabilities.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a regulated environment and partner with Security, Privacy, Legal, Risk, and Compliance.

  • Strong organizational leadership, executive communication, financial management, and vendor-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in insurance, healthcare, financial services, or another regulated industry.
