Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year

Location: Fully remote within Texas. Candidates must reside in Texas and be available for court appearances, depositions, mediations, trials, client meetings, and other in-person proceedings throughout the state when required.

Note: Candidates must be actively licensed in Texas and have substantial hands-on first-party property litigation experience. This is an experienced-attorney opening and is not intended for general civil litigators seeking to transition into first-party property work for the first time.

Job Description

  • Independently manage first-party property litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Develop litigation strategy and provide practical legal advice to clients
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony
  • Handle hearings, mediations, conferences, arbitrations, and trials as appropriate
  • Analyze insurance policies, property claims, damages, expert reports, and supporting documentation
  • Conduct investigations, interviews, document review, and legal research
  • Prepare exhibits and case materials for depositions, hearings, and trial
  • Evaluate cases for settlement and negotiate resolutions when appropriate
  • Maintain regular client communication regarding case developments, exposure, and strategy
  • Manage deadlines and a litigation caseload with a high degree of independence

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Texas Bar membership in good standing
  • 5+ years of attorney experience
  • 3+ years of direct first-party property litigation experience
  • Proven ability to independently manage first-party property cases
  • Strong deposition, discovery, motion practice, and legal writing experience
  • Knowledge of Texas court procedures and litigation practices
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment
