Mouse Soft has been developing healthcare software for Australian specialist clinics, private hospitals, and day surgeries for over 30 years through our well-established platform, Medical Wizard.

We are now building the future of healthcare through MedNext, a modern browser-based healthcare platform that is cloud-based, paperless, and powered by AI.

About the Internship 

This internship is designed for individuals who are genuinely passionate about Artificial Intelligence, automation, LLMs, software engineering, and emerging technologies.

You will work closely with Engineering, Product, QA, and Innovation teams on practical AI initiatives involving:

• AI-assisted healthcare workflows
  
• Prompt engineering
  
• AI automation concepts
  
• LLM integrations
  
• AI research and experimentation
  
• AI-assisted software development
  
• Internal AI tools and productivity systems
  
• Workflow optimisation and automation
  
• Rapid prototyping and innovation initiatives
  

This is not a research-only internship. You will have the opportunity to build, experiment, prototype, and contribute to real product-focused AI initiatives.

Key Responsibilities  

• Assist with AI engineering and automation initiatives
  
• Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts using AI tools and APIs
  
• Explore and evaluate emerging AI technologies
  
• Assist with prompt engineering and workflow automation
  
• Support LLM integrations and experimentation
  
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and QA teams
  
• Document technical findings, ideas, and implementation approaches
  
• Support testing and improvement of AI-driven features
  
• Stay updated on AI trends and share learnings with the team.
  

Requirements

What We’re Looking For  

• Currently following or recently completed a degree/diploma in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, AI, or a related field
  
• Strong passion for AI, automation, and emerging technologies
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  
• Willingness to learn quickly and experiment independently
  
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  
• Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively
  
• Good English communication skills
  
• Coding mindset with interest in building practical solutions
  

Technical Exposure (Preferred but Not Mandatory) 

• Python programming
  
• JavaScript / TypeScript
  
• APIs and integrations
  
• OpenAI / Claude / Gemini or similar LLM platforms
  
• Prompt engineering
  
• AI automation tools
  
• Git / GitHub / version control
  
• Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
  
• Basic understanding of LLMs and AI workflows
