About Signalmash
Signalmash operates a cloud communications platform that enables businesses to manage and deliver RCS, SMS, and MMS messaging through carrier and technology-provider integrations. The platform includes customer onboarding, messaging APIs, routing, compliance, vendor integrations, usage tracking, and billing.
As the platform and engineering organization grow, we are adding an India-based DevOps Engineer to own the reliability, speed, and security of the infrastructure the platform runs on.
The Role
The DevOps Engineer will own our build, deploy, and runtime infrastructure across self-managed Kubernetes and cloud environments. You will make deploys faster and safer, make failures visible before customers see them, and make recovery a tested procedure rather than a hope.
This is a hands-on role combining CI/CD ownership, Kubernetes operations, database reliability, observability, and security hardening. You will work alongside internal engineers and external development partners, and connect with the US management team on priorities, risks, and incidents.
This is not a ticket-taking position. The successful candidate must be comfortable reading application code and logs, tracing a failure across services, and owning a production issue from alert to documented root cause.
Key Responsibilities
• Own CI/CD pipelines end to end using GitHub Actions, including self-hosted runner infrastructure, build speed optimization, caching, elimination of flaky jobs, and safe automated deployments.
• Operate and improve Kubernetes environments (self-managed K3s on bare metal) and cloud deployments (GCP).
• Manage PostgreSQL operations including schema migrations, backup strategy, point-in-time recovery, and performance tuning.
• Build and maintain observability through metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerting.
• Own backup and disaster recovery processes, restore testing, and operational runbooks.
• Harden platform security through secrets management, TLS, least-privilege access, overlay networking, and dependency management.
• Coordinate production incidents and document root causes and corrective actions.
• Reduce infrastructure costs while maintaining reliability.
• Introduce responsible AI-assisted engineering workflows using Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar tools.
Requirements
• 4+ years of DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering experience.
• Strong Kubernetes experience, including deployment, networking, storage, upgrades, and ideally self-managed or bare-metal clusters.
• Deep CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions or equivalent.
• PostgreSQL administration including migrations, backup, restore, and performance.
• Docker, Linux administration, shell scripting, and Python or Node.js.
• Cloud experience with GCP or equivalent AWS/Azure.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent monitoring platforms.
• Proven experience operating production customer-facing platforms.
• Practical use of AI coding tools in production repositories.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Based in India and available to work until approximately 11:30 PM IST to overlap with the US management team.
Preferred Experience
• Communications or CPaaS platforms.
• Hybrid bare-metal and cloud infrastructure.
• Cloudflare, GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux), Infrastructure as Code.
• ORM migration workflows such as Prisma.
• Cost optimization achievements.
• SOC 2 or similar security environments.
Location
The position is based in India and may initially be remote. Signalmash is evaluating an engineering office in Kochi during 2026-2027. Candidates should be open to relocating to Kochi if an office is established.
