Job description

For over 35 years Coast Mountain Geological (CMG) has provided worldwide geological services to our clients with a team of geoscience enthusiasts led by a balanced mix of youthful and seasoned industry professionals. With active operations in Canada and Europe on a variety of projects ranging from early-stage greenfield through to resource definition drill programs and development activities, CMG is looking to add to its team of Exploration Geologists for the 2026 field season.

The Exploration Geologist’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and updating geological databases for the project
  • Prospecting, mapping and regional reconnaissance
  • Drill rig monitoring, core logging and implementing relevant workflows and procedures (QA/QC, etc.)
  • Data compilation
  • Acquiring structural measurements
  • Provide information for daily, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Supervising, training and developing junior staff
  • Assist in implementing corporate safety and operating policies
  • Aid in developing new corporate and operating policies when instances present themselves
  • Perform other duties as assigned


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (or equivalent)
  • Registered or able to register in a GIT (Geologist in Training) program
  • Practical experience with exploration scenarios
  • The candidate should exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, time-management skills and be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • A positive and adaptable attitude to an ever-changing high demand work environment
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, GIS programs, Leapfrog Geo and other industry standard software suites is considered an asset.
  • Ability to lift and move core boxes/sample bags and hike considerable distances over varied terrain
  • Availability to work rotations up to 28 days in length and live in a camp environment at remote project sites
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid BC Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s licence
