Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with appropriate departments to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain inventory storage space in warehouses and remote facilities.
  • Perform cycle counts and ensure all inventory is accounted for and reported according to company policy.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled remote inventory cycle counts at company and customer locations across the state.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels to meet customer demand.
  • Assess inventory output on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to identify trends in productivity.
  • Perform process and system testing and track performance by area to identify and resolve issues involving data integrity, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Travel to field locations to perform inventory audits, material verifications, and asset reconciliations.
  • Conduct facility risk assessment surveys and site inspections.
  • Document site conditions, safety concerns, inventory storage practices, and facility issues through written reports and photographic documentation.
  • Enter facility assessment findings, inventory variances, and risk observations into company systems and databases.
  • Maintain facility visual records, inventory documentation, and asset tracking records.
  • Complete and maintain equipment and facility maintenance logs as assigned.
  • Recommend improvements to inventory control processes, storage practices, and facility organization.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and inventory management procedures.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Proven work experience as an Inventory Specialist or similar role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of inventory, warehouse, or supply chain experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, databases, and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to travel throughout Iowa and surrounding service areas as business needs require.
  • Ability to work weekends on occasion.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred

  • CPIM Certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting inventory audits, facility inspections, or operational assessments.
  • Experience utilizing inventory management, ERP, or MRP systems.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, management, and coworkers.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting assessment findings and inventory reports.
  • Proficient keyboarding and data entry skills.
  • Ability to analyze inventory discrepancies and determine root causes.
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with vendors and field personnel.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to accurately document facility conditions through written reports and digital photography.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and travel assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

 

 

TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND SOFTWARE:

  • Must be able to proficiently operate Windows PC with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, inventory management, or asset tracking systems.
  • Ability to use barcode scanners, mobile inventory devices, and handheld data collection equipment.
  • Ability to use smartphones, tablets, and digital cameras for facility inspection and documentation activities.
  • Valid driver's license required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical labor such as lifting and moving boxes, equipment, and inventory may be required on a regular basis.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift-up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to navigate warehouses, storage yards, telecommunication facilities, and remote locations.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing may be required.
  • Periodic travel throughout Iowa with occasional overnight travel as business needs require. Estimated at 25-35 percent.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and remain insurable under the company's motor vehicle policy.
  • Ability to work safely in warehouses, field, and customer-site environments.

Additional Requirements

The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and be able to travel independently to company and customer locations throughout the state.
