Job description

Why Work With Us?

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary of $95,000–$105,000 based on experience.

  • Work-Life Balance: 35-hour work week (Monday–Friday) with 4 weeks of vacation and 10 paid professional wellness days.

  • Flexibility: Fully remote options available for candidates located in markets without a physical office presence.

The Role Staffinity is currently seeking a Bilingual Senior Underwriter. This is a permanent position. The successful candidate will act as a high-level intermediary between advisors and insurance carriers, managing complex new business cases and preliminary assessments. This role is designed for a technical expert who enjoys the strategy of underwriting without the typical high-stress audit environments of larger carriers.

Responsibilities:

  • Expert Consultation: Provide advanced underwriting expertise to advisors regarding eligibility criteria and requirements, offering strategic recommendations to meet client needs.

  • Case Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of complex cases, ensuring pre-established turnaround timelines are met and maintaining consistent communication with all stakeholders.

  • Technical Review: Analyze medical and financial requirements (including APS reports, expert interviews, and vitals) to package cases for optimal carrier decisions.

  • Strategic Negotiation: Discuss unfavorable decisions or reconsideration criteria directly with advisors and carriers to achieve the best possible outcomes for high-net-worth clients.

  • Decision Review: Audit amendments and exclusions to ensure they accurately reflect the information developed during the underwriting process.

  • Knowledge Leadership: Act as a strategic agent by providing content for training initiatives and marketing presentations offered to advisors and administrative staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism: Fluency in both written and spoken English and French is mandatory for interpreting complex medical/financial data and consulting with advisors.

  • Experience: 5–10 years of experience in a dedicated underwriting environment, specifically dealing with high-net-worth markets.

  • Professional Credentials: Industry-recognized designations (such as AALU or FALU) are strongly preferred.

  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to solve complex problems with a strong attention to detail and a focus on favorable risk outcomes.

  • Communication: Exemplary interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain relationships in stressful, high-stakes situations.

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in business or a related field is preferred.
