Job description

Senior Automotive Systems Engineer (ASPICE)
Stuttgart, Germany (Hybrid)

Are you an experienced Automotive Systems Engineer who enjoys seeing the complete picture — from requirements and architecture through development, integration and verification?

I'm supporting an established international high-tech engineering organisation in the Greater Stuttgart area that develops advanced sensing and electronic solutions used within next-generation vehicles.

They are looking for a Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to take a central role within R&D, helping shape technically sophisticated products from initial system requirements through to successful verification and industrialisation.

This is an opportunity to join an organisation combining the stability and resources of an established technology business with a highly innovative engineering environment where individuals are encouraged to take ownership, challenge existing processes and make a visible impact.

What you will be doing

Take ownership of systems engineering activities across the complete automotive development lifecycle / V-model

Translate customer, product and stakeholder needs into clear and structured system requirements

Contribute to and further develop system architectures for complex automotive sensing and electronic systems

Ensure strong traceability and alignment between requirements, architecture, implementation, integration and verification

Work closely with Embedded Software, Electronics/Hardware, Testing, Quality and Project Management teams

Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) processes and engineering practices

Identify opportunities to automate engineering processes, improve toolchains and increase R&D productivity

Act as an important technical interface across multiple engineering disciplines and help resolve system-level challenges

Contribute to the continued development of systems engineering methods, tools and best practices across the organisation

What we are looking for

Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a comparable technical discipline

Several years of professional experience in Automotive Systems Engineering

Strong experience with Requirements Engineering

Good understanding of System Architecture and complex embedded/electronic systems

Practical knowledge of Automotive SPICE / ASPICE

Experience working across the V-model / V-cycle within automotive product development

Comfortable collaborating across Software, Hardware, Verification, Quality and Project teams

Strong communication skills combined with a genuinely holistic systems-thinking mindset

Experience with automotive sensors, ECUs, embedded systems, environmental sensing, vehicle electronics or similar technologies would be particularly interesting.

Why consider it?

This isn't a role where Systems Engineering sits on the sidelines.

You'll have end-to-end visibility and influence over products that ultimately make their way into real vehicles, working at the intersection of multiple engineering disciplines.

You can expect:

High-impact R&D projects involving advanced automotive sensing technologies
Significant technical ownership and freedom to contribute ideas
Exposure to products developed for major players within the global automotive ecosystem
Close collaboration with highly experienced Software, Hardware and Systems engineers
The opportunity to influence and improve Systems Engineering practices and processes
A strong focus on engineering excellence, automation and continuous improvement
Flexible working arrangements including hybrid working
Opportunity to participate financially in the wider success of the business
Support towards public transport / commuting costs
An international technology environment developing products with tangible impact
