Job description

Revolution Medicines is a late-stage clinical oncology company developing novel targeted therapies for patients with RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins. The company’s RAS(ON) inhibitors daraxonrasib (RMC-6236), a RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor; elironrasib (RMC-6291), a RAS(ON) G12C-selective inhibitor; zoldonrasib (RMC-9805), a RAS(ON) G12D-selective inhibitor; and RMC-5127, a RAS(ON) G12V-selective inhibitor, are currently in clinical development. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding professionals in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

As Director, Global Benefits, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of our global benefits programs and build scalable approaches that support our employees as the company evolves.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Total Rewards, you will be a key leader within our growing Total Rewards Center of Excellence, partnering to translate our Total Rewards strategy into competitive, meaningful, and sustainable benefits programs. You will help establish the frameworks, governance, playbooks, communications, and partnerships that enable us to deliver an exceptional benefits experience across a growing global workforce.

You will lead the evaluation, design, governance, financial stewardship, and strategic oversight of U.S. and international benefits programs. You will partner closely with our growing global People Operations teams, HR Technology, HR Business Partners, Regional HR, Finance, Legal, Payroll, and external consultants. Total Rewards will own benefits strategy, program design, governance, financial recommendations, core communications, and program effectiveness, while People Operations owns benefits administration and operational delivery and provides important feedback to inform program evolution.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Benefits Strategy & Program Leadership

  • Partner closely with the Senior Director, Total Rewards to evolve the company’s global benefits strategy and long-term roadmap.

  • Translate strategic direction into scalable program designs, global standards, governance frameworks, playbooks, communications, and success measures.

  • Lead the evaluation, design, and continuous improvement of health, welfare, retirement, wellbeing, and other employee benefits programs.

  • Develop recommendations based on market practices, employee and business input, financial analysis, utilization, and emerging trends.

  • Establish a global benefits framework that balances common principles and standards with appropriate local market flexibility.

  • Lead benefits readiness for new countries and legal entities in partnership with Regional HR, People Operations, local experts, and external consultants.

Benefits Renewals, Financial Stewardship & Vendor Strategy

  • Lead annual benefits renewals, including benchmarking, utilization analysis, financial modeling, scenario development, and recommendations.

  • Evaluate program costs, employee contributions, vendor proposals, and financial impact to balance competitiveness, employee experience, affordability, and sustainability.

  • Partner with the Senior Director, Total Rewards on strategic vendor relationships, major negotiations, renewals, selections, and significant escalations.

  • Establish vendor performance expectations and lead strategic reviews of service, cost, capability, and employee experience.

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Procurement, and People Operations on contracting, implementation, and ongoing governance.

Open Enrollment, Communications & Employee Experience

  • Lead Open Enrollment strategy, program changes, core messaging, decision support, and overall program requirements.

  • Develop benefits communication and education strategies supporting Open Enrollment, new program launches, and ongoing employee understanding.

  • Partner with People Operations and Regional HR on implementation, localization, distribution, employee meetings, and first-line employee support.

  • Develop tools and resources that help employees and managers understand and appreciate their benefits.

  • Use employee feedback, utilization data, inquiry trends, and service metrics to continuously improve programs and communications.

Global Operating Model & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Build and continuously improve scalable benefits playbooks, governance models, decision rights, and operating processes that can be applied across regions.

  • Partner closely with People Operations, who own benefits administration, eligibility and enrollment processing, employee support, system transactions, routine vendor coordination, and operational execution.

  • Partner with HR Technology to define business requirements and support system design, configuration, testing, reporting, and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with Regional HR and international Total Rewards resources to ensure global programs are successfully adapted and implemented locally while incorporating regional insights into future program design.

  • Collaborate across HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal, Payroll, Procurement, and external partners to ensure programs are effective, compliant, and scalable.

Analytics, Program Effectiveness & Team Collaboration

  • Monitor benefits effectiveness through market benchmarking, utilization, financial results, employee feedback, vendor performance, and service metrics.

  • Translate data and trends into clear insights and recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Partner with the Senior Total Rewards Analyst on benefits analytics, dashboards, reporting, communications, documentation, and program initiatives.

  • Provide project leadership and coaching across benefits initiatives while contributing to the continued development of the broader Total Rewards COE.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve programs, governance, communications, and employee experience as the company grows.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in benefits, Total Rewards, or a related HR discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and governing U.S. health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing, and related employee benefits programs.

  • Experience leading benefits renewals, financial analysis, vendor strategy, and enterprise-wide program changes.

  • Experience supporting global benefits programs and partnering across regions, global brokers, or local market experts.

  • Strong understanding of benefits program design, financial stewardship, governance, compliance considerations, communications, and program effectiveness.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.

  • Strong analytical, financial, program management, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear recommendations and compelling employee and leadership communications.

  • Experience partnering with People Operations and HR Technology on benefits platforms, implementation, reporting, and process design.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling global organization and enthusiasm for building programs and infrastructure for the future.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, or another rapidly scaling organization.

  • Experience supporting an organization through commercialization and global expansion.

  • Experience managing or governing benefits programs across multiple countries.

  • Experience partnering with global brokers, consultants, carriers, and local market advisors.

  • Experience with Workday Benefits or comparable benefits platforms.

  • Experience building global benefits frameworks, governance models, playbooks, and scalable operating processes.

  • Experience leading benefits communications and employee education strategies.

  • CEBS, CBP, or another relevant benefits or Total Rewards certification.

The base pay salary range for this full-time position for candidates working onsite at our headquarters in Redwood City, CA is listed below. Base Pay Salary Range
$201,000$251,000 USD
