Job description

Community Manager – Slack Community, Events & Member Engagement

Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: U.S. Business Hours
Community Size: ~160 Members

About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a highly engaging and relationship-driven Community Manager to own the member experience for a private community of approximately 160 entrepreneurs.

This is not a passive moderation role.

You’ll be responsible for creating an active, connected, and valuable community by leading conversations in Slack, building relationships with members, making thoughtful introductions, coordinating premium events, and proactively improving engagement and retention.

You’ll serve as the heartbeat of the community, ensuring members feel welcomed, connected, heard, and consistently receive value from being part of the network.

If you naturally bring people together, enjoy starting conversations, and know how to turn an online group into a genuine community, this role is a strong fit.

What You’ll Own

Slack Community Management & Daily Engagement

Own the day-to-day experience inside the community’s Slack workspace.

You will:

  • Start thoughtful discussions and keep conversations active.
  • Encourage members to participate and contribute.
  • Respond to questions and facilitate conversations.
  • Welcome and engage new members.
  • Identify inactive members and proactively reconnect with them.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and welcoming community environment.
  • Ensure questions, conversations, and member needs do not go unnoticed.
  • Create consistent reasons for members to return and participate.

Member Relationships & Strategic Introductions

Get to know members beyond their names and profiles.

Understand their:

  • Businesses
  • Industries
  • Goals
  • Challenges
  • Expertise
  • Interests
  • Current priorities

Use that knowledge to make thoughtful introductions between members who could benefit from knowing one another.

You’ll act as a connector across the community, helping create valuable relationships, collaborations, and conversations.

Member Check-Ins & Retention

Conduct structured member check-ins approximately every 3–6 months.

Use these conversations to:

  • Understand member satisfaction.
  • Gather feedback about the community experience.
  • Identify disengaged or at-risk members.
  • Understand what members want more or less of.
  • Surface opportunities for introductions, programming, or support.
  • Address concerns before they become reasons to leave.

Maintain organized records of member feedback, engagement, and follow-up actions.

Events, Retreats & Member Experiences

Coordinate high-quality community experiences, including:

  • Retreats
  • Dinners
  • Meetups
  • Private gatherings
  • Virtual events
  • Other member experiences

Own event coordination from planning through execution, including:

  • Scheduling
  • Invitations and RSVPs
  • Venue and vendor coordination
  • Member communication
  • Attendance tracking
  • Event logistics
  • Reminders and follow-ups
  • Post-event feedback

The goal is to create organized, premium experiences that strengthen relationships within the community.

Engagement Tracking & Community Reporting

Monitor the overall health of the community by tracking:

  • Slack activity
  • Member participation
  • Event attendance
  • Member check-ins
  • Meaningful introductions
  • Inactive members
  • Engagement trends
  • Retention and churn indicators

Provide clear insights to leadership about what is working, where engagement is dropping, and what can be improved.

Member Feedback & Surveys

Create and manage member surveys using Typeform or similar tools.

You will:

  • Gather structured member feedback.
  • Analyze survey responses.
  • Identify recurring themes and concerns.
  • Share actionable insights with leadership.
  • Turn member feedback into improvements to programming, events, and the overall community experience.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

You are:

  • Naturally outgoing and comfortable starting conversations.
  • An excellent relationship builder.
  • Confident communicating through Slack, email, video, and calls.
  • Genuinely interested in learning about other people.
  • Comfortable interacting with entrepreneurs and business owners.
  • Proactive about making introductions and creating connections.
  • Highly organized when coordinating events and follow-ups.
  • Attentive to members who may be disengaging.
  • Customer-focused and motivated by member satisfaction.
  • Comfortable taking ownership without waiting for constant direction.

Most importantly, you know how to create engagement without making it feel forced.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Professional experience in community management, customer success, member experience, relationship management, or a closely related role.
  • Strong spoken English with clear, professional communication.
  • Excellent written English communication.
  • Experience building and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Experience coordinating events, gatherings, or member experiences.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple member conversations and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working remotely during U.S. business hours.
  • Reliable internet connection and professional remote work setup.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience working with U.S.-based members or clients.
  • Experience tracking community engagement and retention metrics.
  • Proven success improving member participation or reducing churn.
  • Based in LATAM or Africa preferred, but not required.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

Your day may include:

  • Reviewing Slack activity and responding to member conversations.
  • Starting a discussion around a relevant topic.
  • Welcoming and engaging new members.
  • Introducing two members who could benefit from knowing each other.
  • Reaching out to members who have become less active.
