About the Position:

The Regional Safety Manager serves as the safety leader for assigned operations throughout the Eastern United States. This position is responsible for promoting and strengthening the WFS USA safety culture by partnering with Operations to ensure every project is executed safely, professionally, and in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

The Regional Safety Manager provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, and independent oversight to project teams while fostering an environment where safety is recognized as a shared responsibility and a fundamental expression of caring for our people.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Culture

  • Champion the Walters Core Values and the WFS USA Leadership Doctrine.
  • Promote a culture where safety is recognized as a shared responsibility.
  • Develop trusting relationships with Project Managers, General Superintendents, Superintendents, Foremen, and craft employees.
  • Coach leaders on integrating safety into planning, execution, and decision-making.
  • Mentor project teams in developing proactive safety leadership skills.
  • Lead by example in professionalism, integrity, and humility.

Safety Leadership

  • Support implementation of the WFS USA Safety Management System.
  • Conduct regular project safety visits throughout the assigned region.
  • Verify compliance with company safety standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and mobilization reviews.
  • Assist project teams in identifying and mitigating risk before work begins.
  • Support development and implementation of project-specific safety plans.

Auditing & Verification

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety audits.
  • Review project documentation for completeness and compliance.
  • Verify corrective actions have been implemented and are effective.
  • Monitor safety trends and recommend improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation supporting audit findings and corrective actions.

Incident Management

  • Respond to significant incidents within the assigned region.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations.
  • Determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Communicate lessons learned throughout the organization.
  • Track corrective actions to completion.

Training & Development

  • Deliver safety orientations and leadership training.
  • Coach field leadership on hazard recognition and risk management.
  • Support development of Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers as safety leaders.
  • Identify training needs and recommend development opportunities.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain current knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Support customer safety audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Assist project teams in maintaining compliance with applicable safety requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend improvements to the WFS USA Integrated Leadership Management System.
  • Participate in annual Safety Management System reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, communication, and training.
  • Share best practices across projects and regions.

 

Work Location: Based in Georgia or surrounding states with extensive travel to project sites.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible construction safety experience.
  • Experience supporting structural steel, industrial, heavy commercial, or heavy civil construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the Eastern United States.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.


Preferred

  • ASP, SMP,CHST, or equivalent professional certification.
  • OSHA 500 Trainer.
  • First Aid / CPR Instructor.
  • Experience with union construction.
  • Experience with crane and rigging operations.
  • Experience in structural steel erection.

 

Compensation Package:

  • Competitive salary based on experience ($115,000-$125,000/Year)
