Job description

About TOOLBX

TOOLBX is a technology company dedicated to enabling the building supply industry to serve their customers with exceptional digital experiences. We empower independent building suppliers with an integrated commerce platform that streamlines sales, AR, operations, and customer service to increase operating efficiency, improve the customer experience, and boost the bottom line. We are curious, solution-driven and customer obsessed.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly autonomous Staff Software Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you won't just be handed tickets to code; you will be a true product partner. You will take ownership of complex technical challenges, architect scalable solutions, and directly impact how our platform integrates with our customers' ecosystems and workflows. You'll leverage modern tools (including LLMs) to ship fast, iterate, and solve real-world problems for an industry underserved by technology.

What You'll Do

  • Own the Full Lifecycle: Architect, build, test, and deploy robust, scalable features across our web and mobile platforms using modern best practices.
  • Accelerate Integration: Design and implement infrastructure and streamlined processes that drastically reduce the time it takes to onboard and integrate new customers.
  • Be a Product Partner: Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure our engineering decisions directly drive business strategy and user value.
  • Customer-Facing Engineering: Act as a technical liaison, occasionally working directly with customers and technology partners to scope and build custom platform integrations.
  • Leverage AI: Utilize LLMs and modern AI tooling to accelerate your workflow, deeply understand our codebase, and increase your speed to deliver business value.
  • Raise the Bar: Maintain and enhance system reliability, observability, and performance, while mentoring peers and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

What You'll Bring

  • The Tech Stack: 10+ years professional development experience. Deep expertise in modern TypeScript and the surrounding ecosystem.
  • Backend & APIs: Strong background building and scaling Node.js backends. Experience with GraphQL preferred.
  • Frontend & Mobile: Proven experience building complex applications with React and/or React Native.
  • Startup DNA: You possess a strong bias for action, a high tolerance for ambiguity, and a track record of executing and delivering impact in a fast-paced environment.
  • Systems Thinking: A deep understanding of the building blocks of robust, scalable system architectures and integrations.
  • A Builder’s Mindset: A genuine passion for technology and a desire to build a product that fundamentally revolutionizes a real-world industry. Actual LBM industry experience is a plus.

Note: Only selected candidates will be contacted for an interview. TOOLBX is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This is an existing job vacancy.
