Pay: $115,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year

Location: Remote role in either Providence, Rhode Island, or Boston, Massachusetts.

Note: Candidates must have an active Rhode Island law license and 3+ years of insurance defense and/or litigation experience.

Job Description

  • Handle litigation matters from pleadings through discovery, motion practice, and resolution
  • Draft motions, briefs, legal memoranda, pleadings, and discovery responses
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Appear in court and work directly with clients
  • Conduct legal research, analyze case facts, and develop litigation strategy
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and the court
  • Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as needed
  • Collaborate with experienced attorneys and strong support staff on active matters
  • Defend a variety of civil litigation matters including general liability, personal injury, construction defect, commercial trucking, and employment-related claims

Qualifications

  • J.D. required
  • Active Rhode Island bar admission required
  • 3+ years of insurance defense and/or litigation experience
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Experience drafting motions and other legal memoranda
  • Experience with discovery, depositions, and court appearances
  • Able to manage cases independently while working well as part of a team
  • Active Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Connecticut bar admission is a plus
  • Ability to transfer UBE score is a plus
  • Employment law, construction defect, and/or commercial trucking experience is a plus
