About the role

The IYF is a global youth network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to empower young people across the world. IYF works in over 50 countries and territories, helping to achieve youth empowerment and improve the status of youth.

The IYF Executive Office (ExO) is a central office tasked with the development of corporate strategies, policies, tools, and systems in both key and cross-cutting management areas. The office provides the support needed to enable the IYF Senior Management Team (SMT) to effectively perform their leadership roles. The ExO oversees the work of the IYF Commissions, Regional Administrations, HQ Bureaux and their associates’ bodies.

The IYF Vice President is the second senior official after the President who works to assist the President and the Secretary-General in overall strategic and operational responsibility for all the IYF activity areas. The position is a part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) that drives the overall strategy for the IYF at global level.

 

Responsibilities

(A) Leadership & People Management:

  • Preside over meetings in the absence of the President/SG and watch over the IYF Commissions and assist committee’s heads;
  • Leading, guiding, directing, and evaluating the work of other the IYF officials including Executive branches staff and Regional Directors;
  • Support the implementation of the IYF Global Strategy that guides the direction of the IYF’s programmes, projects and initiatives;
  • Advising the President/Secretary-General on substantive matters and in the organisation’s strategic planning and the development of management tools and instruments to enhance the performance of IYF in its overall mission;
  • Overseeing the implementation and operationalization of the work of the Honorary Board, Board of Advisers and IYF Goodwill Ambassadors Progarmme; and
  • Representing the organisation where required and assisting in the establishment and development of key partnerships.

 

(B) Partnerships & External Relations:

  • Identifies opportunities for new alliances and develops strategies for achieving the IYF objectives raising revenue;
  • Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing programmes and the growth of the IYF;
  • Cultivate existing relationships and develop new funder relationships;
  • Represents the IYF at international conferences, events and meetings;
  • Develop partner networks and strategic partnerships, using method driven approaches and processed to drive results through partnerships;
  • Coordinate the management of ongoing relationships with existing partners and where relevant, leverage those relationships to greater collective impact;
  • Focuses on strengthening existing collaborations and ensure that partnerships are profitable and beneficial to all parties;
  • Conceptualize new strategic initiatives that could be built around or benefit from corporate, foundation, government, bilateral organizations or other partnerships; and
  • Assisting the President/Secretary-General in developing and facilitating consultations with Governments.

Empower (Level-4) Empowerment is a practice of giving team members skills, authority, opportunity, and motivation so that they can take initiative and make decisions to solve problems and improve performance.

Mobilize (Level-4) Ability to identify resources and activities that individuals and organizations will undertake to support the IYF’s strategic goals and objectives. Engage and influence appropriate donors by building win-win relationships.

Inspire (Level-4) Inspiration and lead by example is about energizing and creating a sense of direction and purpose in others, unlocking motivation and momentum for positive change.

 

Functional Competencies

  • Ability to lead strategic planning, results-based management, and reporting.
  • Ability to lead and manage corporate strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent computer, internet, social media, and information system skills.

 

Eligibility

  • Only (18-38) age is accepted for this position.
  • Highly interested in youth empowerment, youth issues.

 

Skills Required for Position

  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with a diverse community.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations quickly, accurately, and effectively.

 

Experience

Experience and results preferred at national or international level in youth empowerment role, management, coordination, development, communications, international relations, youth studies, sport, women empowerment, youth-led organizations, or another relevant field.

 

Language

Fluency in English with superior drafting skills is essential.
