Senior Product Designer

This is a remote position.

At Sumara Technology we're looking for a high-calibre Senior Product Designer to help us build and scale exceptional trading and investing experiences.

We're building one home for everything money: trading, investing, crypto, and everyday spending in a single account, backed by decades of trading heritage and built for people who take their money seriously. It's early, the canvas is clean, and there's no legacy to drag along.

We tackle complex problems, and we need a designer who balances deep product thinking with outstanding visual craft. In this role, you won't just be taking tickets. You'll own complex product areas end-to-end, influence roadmaps, and raise the bar for design excellence across the team. You'll have another senior designer beside you and a shared design system to grow, so this is about owning your area and strengthening the whole, not building a silo.

Why you'll want this

• You own your product area outright and ship it. No design-by-committee, no waiting three sprints for engineering to get to your work, no taking tickets.
  
• Your craft isn't capped by engineering bandwidth. Design leads here and runs ahead of engineering. AI handles the tedium so you spend your hours on the work only you can do: taste, judgement, systems, and real product calls.
  
• We expect you to think and build with AI, and we want you to push the edge of what these tools can do, not ask permission to try them.
  
• We'll invest the time and tooling to get you prototyping and shipping more of your own work directly. By the end of year one, you should be operating closer to a design engineer than a traditional designer. That's the deal, and it's rare.
  
• The freedom of a clean sheet with the backing and capital of an established institution. Most 0-to-1 work has no runway. Most well-funded work is legacy maintenance. This is neither.
  
• Remote-first and built on trust. Work where you do your best thinking, manage your own time, and be judged on what you ship, not when you're online. We just ask for enough overlap with UK hours to move together.
  

What you'll do

• Command the end-to-end journey, driving the design of key features from the messiest early-stage ambiguity through to the final, polished release.
  
• Use AI to explore problem spaces, surface edge cases, stress-test ideas, and generate early prototypes. You'll let AI accelerate the work while you guide the intent, structure, and quality.
  
• Design fast, fluid, intuitive native experiences for iOS and Android. You dictate what makes our mobile apps feel premium, responsive, and natural in our users' hands.
  
• Work side-by-side with cross-functional partners across Product, Engineering, Content, and domain-specific stakeholders to ship great work within assigned Squads.
  
• Contribute to, refine, and evolve our design system, and help set the standard for design craft and product excellence across the team.
  

Requirements

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of proven track record of taking complex products from concept to launch, with pride in owning the outcome, not just shipping features.
  
• You're a pragmatic product thinker who doesn't lean on a rigid, textbook process. You make smart trade-offs and defend your decisions with logic and evidence.
  
• You don't just use AI tools, you reach for them to do things that weren't possible before. Comfortable building with Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, v0 or similar, and comfortable working close to code.
  
• Deep experience shipping top-tier iOS and Android apps. You know the specific design patterns, gestures, and technical realities of both platforms inside out.
  
• A portfolio that shows exceptional visual craft, case studies that show proof of work done with results, a keen eye for typography and layout, and an obsession with the finer details.
  
• You excel at untangling complex workflows, organising dense information architecture, and improving the design systems you work within.
  
• You care about outcomes over output, with the metrics to prove your work moved the needle for the business and the user.
  
• Strong stakeholder management and clear communication. You bring people along, manage expectations, and articulate the "why" behind your decisions.
  

Nice to have

• Trading or investing instinct, a feel for trader behaviour and financial decision-making. Most trading platforms have poor UX, so we value the understanding far more than the logo.
  
• Revolut, Robinhood, Public, or comparable consumer trading, investing, or fintech held to a high bar.
  
• Prototyping and motion skills to bring interactions to life.
