We compared the job requirements to your profile to show where you're strong and where you fall short.
Kinsta is one of the top providers of managed hosting for WordPress, with a growing club of 120,000+ businesses including startups, universities, and Fortune 500 firms. We're motivated by excellent quality and proud to have received a 97% satisfaction rating from our customers.
That's because, to us, each day is a chance to grow. As a team, we continuously inspire each other to learn new and better ways to make an impact. We own our jobs proudly - our leaders don't hold our hands, but they're in our corner whenever we ask for help - and our environment is flexible and remote-first.
As our new Senior Product Designer, you'll lead and execute product initiatives from concept to UI, bringing a user-focused mentality to everything you ship. You'll join a small, close-knit Product Design team, report to the Head of Product, partner day to day with Research, Product Management, and Development, and work with other teams as collaborators and stakeholders.
Your primary canvas is MyKinsta, the dashboard where our customers manage their sites, but your scope also extends to the service layer to cover the full user experience of Kinsta. This means a design output can include internal workflows, customer communication, or additional tooling.
You'll work with a high level of autonomy while you design features, manage stakeholders, provide UX guidance, and occasionally step in to own a project through delivery. The ideal Kinsta Senior Product Designer is a strong craftsperson, a confident decision-maker, curious, collaborative, and self-motivated.
Own design projects end to end (concept, scoping, user flows, UI, release, and follow-up), at any scale, from small improvements to strategic new capabilities.
Drive discovery: define what to build to address real problems and user needs, and study competitors and best practices.
Work closely with Research, Product Management, and Development: request and apply insights, align on business requirements, and validate technical feasibility.
Write clear specifications so design intent is unambiguous, and run design QA against both the intent and the Kinsta Design System.
Give clear rationale for your decisions, resolve design and product deadlocks, escalate when you need feedback or mediation, and communicate trade-offs when priorities compete.
Serve as Project Owner on occasion. We don't have full-time delivery managers, so one team member leads each project as its Owner during delivery, communicating progress and coordinating releases.
Be a product expert: know how our product works, the personas and use cases we support, and how that translates into UI-level design solutions.
Represent the craft: uphold professional standards in design thinking, problem solving, usability, UX, and UI; give and receive design critique; and help maintain and evolve the Kinsta Design System.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Product or UX Designer.
Demonstrated experience shipping products and features from zero to production, with the ability to carry a project fully autonomously.
Experience working in a SaaS product environment.
Hands-on experience across the full design workflow: research, problem definition, ideation and facilitation, creating UI, and partnering in delivery.
Expert-level proficiency with Figma.
Experience working with and maintaining a design system.
A portfolio with at least one case study taking a project from a problem statement to a delivered solution. We want to see your process and how you arrived at decisions, not only screens and a general workflow description.
A good understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JS). You don't need to write production code, but you should have a working sense of feasibility and be comfortable poking at things in an Inspector.
Proactivity: you take the initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do.
Professional-level English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working on a hosting or web infrastructure product.
Experience with technical products where the audience is developers or technology-oriented users.
Experience with the WordPress ecosystem.
Annual remote expense budget.
Flexible PTO.
Paid parental leave.
Annual professional development budget: available after one year with Kinsta.
Sabbatical: available after three years with Kinsta (and every three years thereafter).
Location-specific healthcare benefits (includes vision and dental) for employees hired in the USA, UK, Canada, and Hungary.
Pension plan for employees hired in the UK, and 401k contributions for employees hired in the USA.
After you apply, unlock the direct contact details of the people who actually make the call. A quick follow-up makes you 5x more likely to land an interview.
