Job Description:

Position Summary:  

This SCQM (Supply Chain & Quality Manager) position is responsible for a large Tier 1 supplier and is accountable for ensuring on time delivery and on quality of equipment & systems for Airbus Aircraft. The Supply Chain Quality/Performance Manager is in daily contact with suppliers and internal customers (located in US, Canada and Europe). They draw on their past expertise in Industrial, Operations & Quality Management, and strong relationship building skills to problem-solve and proactively mitigate Supply Chain issues. The nature of the job requires a high level of autonomy and a strong level of soft skills including communication. This role is targeted for Newport Beach, California, or Phoenix, AZ.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Management: 70%

  • Ensure maturity and robustness of Equipment & Systems Supplier’s manufacturing and supply chain processes to avoid supply failures

  • Deploy Zer0-M routines with the supplier including robust SBR (Supplier Business Review) process and BIP (Business Improvement Plan) management  

  • Utilize best practices, industrial methods, and quality management techniques to continuously improve Supply Chain related performances for deliveries of supplied products

  • Assess supplier capacity and capability to secure ramp-up period as well as Airbus industrial objectives (major planning changes, ramp down, etc.)

  • Monitor and analyze performance through Key Performance Indicators and organize the surveillance of the suppliers through audits, assessments, recovery plan and mission, CID (Corrective, Improvement, Development) and industrial risks management with internal and external concerned parties

  • Appropriately monitor major industrial risks, major changes (industrial transfers, major planning changes) and supporting design changes on an industrial point of view in order to protect Airbus operations

  • Initiate and follow recovery or transformation plans with Suppliers in case of delivery performances degradation to ensure deliveries are back to Airbus requirements

  • Ensure Suppliers’ preventive/corrective action plans are managed and achievements are at the expected level in terms of end results.

  • Prepare and support regular management reviews (SBR, PRM, Industrial Senior Management Meeting, Quality Supply Chain Meetings) with suppliers to regularly review delivery and supply chain performances and ensure that preventive/corrective & improvement actions are continuously undertaken.

  • Remote position, but acting facing the supplier or in the Airbus office 4 days per week.

Internal Stakeholder Management: 20%

  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, such as MFT leaders, Programs and Final Assembly Lines (FALs). This includes communication, customer / supplier relation & meetings, and improvement actions.

Other Responsibilities: 10%

  • Complete required training

  • Special projects and stretch assignments

  • Mentor new hires and support colleagues as needed


 

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:  

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Industrial Engineering or similar field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education.

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar field

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a procurement operations environment (monitoring, auditing, developing suppliers/operations) or equivalent. 

  • Preferred: 10+ years of relevant professional experience. Aerospace industry and/or manufacturing experience

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Required: n/a

  • Preferred: Green Belt/Black Belt certification, CPIM certification (Certified in Production & Inventory Management)

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Required: Knowledge of Supply Chain and Quality Processes.  

  • Preferred: Knowledge of Quality Regulations, Quality Core Tools Knowledge (APQP), Practical Problem Solving, Industrial planning (MRP/ERP). International Mgmt. system standards, Authorities / Regulations / Standards, Knowledge of QMS, Auditing/Assessing, IPCA+ and CMA tools  (Industrial Capability and Capacity assessment tools)

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • English (Reading – Speaking – Writing: Fluent/Negotiation)

  • Communicating at all levels within the supplier’s organization and Airbus to influence the decision making

  • Ability to summarize complex industrial situations in a clear manner

  • Team Player with excellent communication skills, customer-oriented, problem solving and flexible way of working.

The Job holder will be part of a team and will be able to act autonomously, operationally driven by the Procurement commodity in Europe and the US/Canada. 

  • The management support for the Job Holder is US based, as are the suppliers. 

  • This role will manage complex and high profile suppliers.  

Organizational information:

The job holder will be part of the Airbus Americas Procurement team whose internal customer is the Procurement Industrial Equipment & Systems organization (PIE) and Airbus production lines across EU, US and Canada.

Involved, negotiation type Communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties


 

Physical Requirements:

The job content requires the ability to travel via car and airplane. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and view computer monitor for long periods of time. Requires hearing and vision.
