  • Base salary will be in the range $106,709 - $116,199 + 17% super (HEW Level 7).

  • Based at our St Lucia Campus.

About This Opportunity

Join the Customer Analytics team within Marketing and Communications and play a pivotal role in advancing the University’s machine learning and artificial intelligence capability. This established role offers the opportunity to step into a mature environment with diverse data assets, strong stakeholder engagement, and a strong pipeline of initiatives delivering measurable business impact. You will design, develop and maintain production-ready AI solutions that support student engagement, recruitment and service delivery, while helping shape the future of data-driven marketing and student recruitment across the University.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing and maintaining machine learning models and AI solutions that support strategic and operational objectives.

  • Building and enhancing production-ready machine learning applications using Python, Spark and modern data science platforms.

  • Collaborating with IT and business stakeholders to develop scalable data pipelines and integrate machine learning solutions into enterprise environments.

  • Translating complex analytical outputs into clear recommendations and insights that drive tangible business outcomes.

About You

  • Completion of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining machine learning and AI solutions in production environments.

  • Strong programming skills in Python, R and SQL, with experience building reliable, maintainable and scalable codebases.

  • Experience working with modern data science and machine learning platforms including Databricks, Apache Spark, Jupyter Notebook and Docker.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and optimising data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions.

  • Experience working with cloud-based data and analytics environments, including Microsoft Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex business challenges into practical technical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and build productive working relationships across diverse teams.
