Job description

About the role:

As a Design Engineer at Jan De Nul, you stand at the cradle of complex construction projects on land and at sea. A new complex for F-35 Fighter Jets, a dynamic site for multimedia company VRT or an offshore energy island: you see how your designs become reality and follow them up from tender to delivery. Jan De Nul stands for sustainable, high-quality and innovative construction projects, from A to Z. This includes its own engineering department. For our Design & Engineering department, we are looking for engineers to develop designs and calculations for our various projects.

What you’ll do:

Bridges, water treatment plants, complex buildings, sea walls, breakwaters, land reclamation, quay walls, foundations. In Belgium or elsewhere in the world. You will provide designs and calculations for this diversity of projects. And you monitor whether your designs pass the practical test. You will usually work from our office in Aalst, with occasional homework and certainly the occasional site visit.

Your tasks:

  • You will make designs and stability calculations.
  • You work together with our CAD-BIM designers, checking and assessing construction drawings.
  • You translate customer expectations into feasible designs, check them with our people on site and make adjustments where necessary.
  • You provide support and advice to the operational team in case of technical problems.

Of course, you do not do this alone. You work together with other (experienced) design engineers, CAD-BIM designers, the tender team and the team on site. Your project leader supports you every step of the way and you can count on continuous training through our JDN Academy.

What do you need?

  • A master's degree in civil engineering.
  • An analytical mind with an eye for precision.
  • Skills to translate theoretical knowledge into a pragmatic approach, focused on efficiency and feasibility.
Why working for us:

Working at Jan De Nul means helping to find solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time: from energy transition to rising sea levels to smart mobility. It means learning and working together every day, with the aim of ensuring the global quality of life for generations to come.

What we offer

  • An ongoing training path through our JDN Academy.
  • The opportunity to exercise at work through our FIT program.
  • An open-ended contract with 42 paid holidays (20 statutory, 12 ADV and 10 public holidays).
  • A healthy work-life balance (sliding working hours and occasional work from home).
  • A competitive salary with thirteenth month and double holiday pay, including:
    • Meal vouchers and eco vouchers
    • Opportunity to participate in the Flex Reward program, including bicycle and car leasing, including fuel card or charging pass in Belgium
    • Intervention public transport and bicycle allowance
    • Group and hospitalization insurance
    • Option of iPhone with subscription
    • Various staff discounts

Are you ready to get stuck into our projects? Then we would like to meet you.
