Job description

This is a remote position.

Lyceum College invites applications from qualified, committed, and academically rigorous professionals to serve as Content Development Reviewers for Afrikaans modules within the Bachelor of Education (BEd) qualification in the Faculty of Education.

Content Development Reviewers play a vital role in ensuring the academic quality, relevance, and integrity of learning materials and assessments developed for distance learning students. Successful applicants will contribute to the review and enhancement of Afrikaans educational content aligned with South African higher education standards and institutional quality assurance requirements.



Specialisation Area

The Faculty of Education is seeking Content Development Reviewers for the following Afrikaans modules:

· Afrikaans

· Conversational Afrikaans

· Afrikaans Home Language Teaching and Learning 1



Key Responsibilities

· Review study guides, assessments, and learning materials for academic quality, accuracy, and alignment with programme outcomes.

· Ensure content aligns with institutional standards, curriculum requirements, and NQF expectations.

· Evaluate assessments to ensure validity, reliability, fairness, and academic rigor.

· Provide constructive academic feedback and recommendations for improvement.

· Ensure that all content is suitable for distance and blended learning environments.

· Verify language accuracy, academic coherence, and appropriate pedagogical approaches.

· Collaborate with programme coordinators and academic teams during the review process.

· Ensure compliance with quality assurance and regulatory requirements.

· Meet review deadlines and provide revisions where required.

Requirements

Required Competencies

Applicants must demonstrate:

· Strong subject knowledge in Afrikaans language and teaching methodologies.

· Excellent academic writing, editing, and reviewing skills.

· Understanding of curriculum development and assessment practices in higher education.

· Knowledge of South African education contexts and language teaching frameworks.

· Strong attention to detail and quality assurance principles.

· Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

· Good communication and collaboration skills.

· Proficiency in digital platforms and online learning environments.



Minimum Requirements

· A master’s degree in education, Afrikaans, Language Education, or a related specialisation (essential).

· At least two years’ experience in higher education, content development, assessment review, curriculum design, or academic editing.

· Demonstrable experience reviewing academic material, study guides, or assessments.

· Experience in distance or online education will serve as an advantage.

· Familiarity with South African higher education quality assurance frameworks.

· Computer literacy with access to a reliable internet connection and laptop/desktop.



Added Advantage

· A Doctorate in the relevant field or progress towards one.

· Experience within private higher education institutions.

· Previous experience in distance learning institutions.
