The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Giving Societies Advisor focusing on our Southwest and Southeast territories in our Mission Advancement Department!

 

This position can be home-based.

Responsibilities:

Experienced fundraiser responsible for implementing prioritized strategies, providing consultation, enhancing fundraising effectiveness, and driving growth, renewal, and long-term revenue impact of the American Heart Association’s Cor Vitae Society – the pipeline for significant charitable contributions and planned gifts - in the Southeast and Southwest regions. 

 

 

  • Qualifies and cultivates relationships with high-net-worth individuals who could be a source of large donations or planned gifts. Provides leadership and strategy for President’s Circle members and major gift prospects, leveraging other staff and volunteers as appropriate to reach the fullest potential of the relationship.
  • Conducts research, develops relationship strategy, cultivates donors with capacity for major gifts through donor engagement and customized stewardship plans to meet donor interests aligned with American Heart Association mission and priorities. Provides individual donors with a variety of giving
  • mechanisms such as cash, stock or IRA distributions, giving through a family foundation or Donor Advised Fund; as well as deferred gift mechanisms such as bequests or beneficiary designations.
  • Aligned with national strategies and goals, establishes and drives region and/or market specific strategies and approaches. Analyzes data, develops case studies and prioritized recommendations. Consults with teams, providing specific coaching to drive the achievement of annual revenue and planned giving goals in assigned area.
  • Develops, leads and ensures implementation of overarching giving societies stewardship strategies within assigned geography, ensuring donors are guided and engaged from first contact with American Heart Association through introduction to Major Gifts and/or Charitable Estate Planning. Provides guidance and national resources used to equip internal staff Giving Society Champions and external volunteer Society Ambassadors.
  • Ensures proper documentation for deferred gift commitments and outright gifts raised.
  • Records plans, activities, relationships, commitment documentation and other relevant information in the Customer Relationship Management database.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, marketing, philanthropy, or related degree
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in fundraising.
  • Experience with all areas of cultivation, solicitation, and closing sales or fundraising of large-scale gifts.
  • Experience in identifying and developing major giving and/or engagement opportunities that align with organizational mission, goals, and strategies at national and local levels.
  • Demonstrated proactive, collaborative skills with all levels of staff, prospects, volunteers, and donors.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% local and overnight stay

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for: 

 

  • Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape.
  • Experience using donor relationship management software, such as Salesforce, BBCRM, Blackbaud, Dynamics, and/or Raiser’s Edge.
  • Worked in museums, healthcare or higher education in a medium to large scale Major Gifts group.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary minimum to the midpoint of the range is $76,800.00 to $102,100.00. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply to the pay range. This position is eligible for an incentive, with the potential to earn up to 25% of your base pay. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
