About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Associate Account Manager to manage and execute accurate, timely payroll services across multiple states. This role serves as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring payroll operations are compliant with federal, state, and local laws. The ideal candidate will have experience in multi-state payroll processing, tax filings, and payroll compliance, with strong client communication and problem-solving skills.

 

Day to day, you'll...

  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for a portfolio of assigned clients
  • Process payroll-related actions, including status changes, separations, tax changes, deductions, and direct deposits
  • Apply for and maintain State and Local Withholding IDs; update rates as required by regulation changes
  • Ensure payrolls are processed accurately and on schedule, including regular wages, overtime, bonuses, tips, and other premium payments
  • Review, verify, and reconcile payroll data in accordance with payroll guidelines and compliance requirements
  • Provide clear and timely responses to client inquiries on payroll, policies, and benefits-related topics
  • Manage payroll processes across multiple states and ensure compliance with varying jurisdictional requirements
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records and documentation
  • Support payroll year-end activities, including W-2/1099 issuance and compliance reporting
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax forms; process amended returns when necessary.
  • Distribute federal and state payroll filings to clients and respond to related inquiries
  • Understand and facilitate related payroll services such as workers' compensation reporting and timekeeping systems
  • Interpret and process various earnings and deductions, including garnishments, benefits, and retirement contributions
Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state environment
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or experience in a similar field
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Experience with employer account registrations (e.g., state withholding, SUI)
  • Experience filing and amending quarterly/annual payroll tax forms (e.g., 941, 940, state equivalents)
  • Familiarity with payroll platforms and systems such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines effectively

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Pay Range: $21.59 - $32.40/Hr.
