About the Opportunity 

We are seeking a Technology Specialist – HR Applications to join VicRoads, responsible for the hands-on management, lifecycle support, and operational stability of our HR technology platforms, with a primary focus on Workday and associated HR applications.

Reporting to the Technical Product Owner – HR & Finance Applications, this role contributes to day-to-day operational activities, including incident and change management, configuration support, release activities, data quality assurance, and vendor coordination. The role ensures HR systems remain reliable, secure, compliant, and fit for purpose to support people, payroll, and workforce outcomes.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide Level 2/3 application support across HR platforms, including Workday HCM, Payroll, Learning, Talent, Workforce Management, and HR Integrations.

  • Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and changes in accordance with ITIL processes and agreed service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Support lifecycle activities, including configuration changes, upgrades, release management, testing, and system decommissioning in line with approved roadmaps.

  • Identify and implement automation and optimisation opportunities that reduce manual effort, improve user experience, and deliver enhanced business outcomes.

  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring incidents and assist in implementing preventative measures and long-term solutions


About you 
You are a customer-focused HR technology professional with 2-5 years of relevant experience supporting Workday applications within a large and complex environment. You enjoy solving technical challenges, driving continuous improvement, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing HR systems. Operating with limited guidance, you apply sound professional judgement and provide specialist advice across moderately complex system, application, and operational activities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 2-5 years of relevant industry experience, supported by a Workday certification.

  • Hands-on experience supporting Workday HR applications, ideally across multiple modules such as Core HCM, Payroll, Recruitment, Onboarding, Learning, Talent Management, or Integrations.

  • Experience managing incidents, problems, changes, and service requests within an ITIL-aligned environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Experience supporting SaaS applications and collaborating with vendors, system integrators, and business stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide technical advice and explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a large, regulated, or government environment.

  • Exposure to Agile delivery practices and tools such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Knowledge of security, access controls, and data protection principles within enterprise technology environments.
