Job description

As the Medical Team Leader, you will lead a team of clinical advisors to deliver high-quality medical management support across our claims portfolio. You will play a key role in driving strategic medical outcomes, improving decision-making, supporting case management capability, and helping injured workers achieve positive recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

Working closely with operational leaders and key stakeholders, you will use your clinical expertise and leadership capability to enhance processes, manage risks, and support the continued evolution of EML’s medical services.

This will be a permanent, full-time position based in our Sydney office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 2 days per week).

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of clinical advisors, supporting performance, capability development and a positive team culture
  • Develop and implement strategies that improve medical management practices, claim outcomes and operational performance
  • Provide expert guidance and support to claims teams on medical management strategies, injury management and complex claim matters
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders to embed medical expertise into claims decision-making and drive proactive risk management
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation and quality assurance across medical services
  • Monitor team performance, workload allocation and service delivery to ensure business objectives and customer expectations are achieved

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant healthcare discipline such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy or a related field
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams within a healthcare, workers compensation, insurance or personal injury environment
  • Strong knowledge of injury management, disability management and the workers compensation industry
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence stakeholders and communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Experience developing and delivering training, coaching team members and building capability within a team environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to identify improvements and manage competing priorities
