Position Overview:
The 508 Compliance Specialist ensures that digital products, documents, and communications meet Section 508 standards. This position requires collaboration with program managers and project teams to test, review, and support remediation of deliverables for accessibility conformance. This role provides support in tracking accessibility compliance status and contributing to the successful delivery of task order requirements in accordance with Section 508.

Key Responsibilities:
Review and test digital products, documents, and communications (e.g., Word, PDF, PowerPoint, and web content) to ensure they meet Section 508 standards.
Identify accessibility issues and support remediation of materials to bring them into Section 508 conformance.
Apply accessibility testing tools and techniques to evaluate digital products and documents for compliance.
Document accessibility testing results and track remediation status for assigned deliverables.
Coordinate with project teams and program managers to ensure Section 508 requirements are incorporated into deliverables.
Assist with the preparation of accessibility compliance documentation to support task order deliverables.
Maintain organized records of accessibility testing and compliance documentation.
Perform other Section 508 compliance duties as required to support task order and contract objectives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in a relevant field.
Minimum 3 years of experience relevant to Section 508 compliance or digital accessibility.
Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and WCAG success criteria.
Familiarity with accessibility testing tools, such as Adobe Acrobat Accessibility Checker, WAVE, axe, or screen readers (e.g., JAWS or NVDA).
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting VA or other federal government accessibility compliance programs.
Preferred experience supporting efforts with a health-related focus
Experience preparing Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs)/VPATs.
Active United States government security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
