The Coordinator – Infection Prevention plays a vital role in protecting patients, caregivers, and visitors by leading infection prevention and control efforts across the organization. This role conducts comprehensive epidemiological surveillance to identify, investigate, track, and report healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections while maintaining accurate infection prevention data and regulatory documentation. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams, the coordinator analyzes infection trends, supports prevention initiatives, provides education to caregivers and providers, and helps ensure compliance with evidence-based practices and regulatory standards to promote a safe, high-quality care environment.

A caregiver in this position will work 8:00am to 4:30pm with on-call requirements on rotation every 9 weeks. This role will offer the opportunity to work from home 1 day per week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Conducts and documents infection control surveillance activities.
  • Collects and performs statistical analysis of hospital onset infection data.
  • Generates reports, identifies trends, evaluates activities and makes recommendations to improve results.
  • Collaborates with infection control committee to develop and implement infection control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates committee meetings and activities to ensure policy compliance.
  • Collaborates with Infection Prevention Managers to coordinate infection prevention activities.
  • Participates in environmental safety rounds.
  • Coordinates the annual review, revision and evaluation of the organization's Infection Control Plan.
  • Monitors compliance. Conducts education and documents completed education.
  • Serves as infection control resource;
  • Collaborates with external review and reporting agencies.
  • Complies with agency standards and participates in survey readiness activities.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related healthcare field with strong clinical background in acute care and ambulatory care setting
  • Certification by Association for Professional in Infection Control (CIC) within one year of hire
  • Five years Healthcare experience in a hospital setting
  • Three years Infection Prevention experience in a hospital setting

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Supervisory experience in a healthcare setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires frequent standing and walking.
  • Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
  • 24/7 availability via pager for consultation.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
