Job description

Work Flexibility: Remote

The Senior Manager, External Affairs serves as the strategic leader for external engagement in partnership with the divisional communications leader. This role drives proactive communications strategies to enhance reputation, strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, and elevate executive visibility. Core areas of focus include proactive and reactive external business engagements and initiatives, external executive communications, media relations, public relations, crisis communications, and industry engagement. The position requires a strategic thinker and hands-on executor who can both design high-impact external affairs strategies and deliver flawless execution in partnership with senior leaders, global communications, and cross-functional teams.

What you will do

  • Lead external affairs and public relations strategy for the Commercial division, supporting leadership, business units, innovation centers, and key product initiatives.

  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders on media relations, reputation management, executive communications, and external engagement.

  • Develop and execute integrated communication strategies that align with business objectives and enterprise communication priorities.

  • Manage media relations and crisis communications, including press materials, spokesperson preparation, media inquiries, and strategic response planning.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with media, journalists, industry influencers, and trade associations to enhance Stryker's visibility and thought leadership.

  • Create compelling executive and external communications, including speeches, statements, opinion pieces, and messaging for key stakeholders.

  • Protect and enhance corporate reputation by monitoring public sentiment, advising on communication strategies, and supporting business transformation initiatives.

  • Measure communication effectiveness while managing agency partners and collaborating across functions to continuously improve external communications and business impact.

What you need

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in media relations and public relations

  • Experience developing and delivering written, verbal, and presentation communications for internal and external audiences

Preferred:

  • MBA

  • Experience in executive communications and crisis communications, with a strong track record in strategic planning, execution and stakeholder engagement

  • USN: $118,000 - $196,700 USD Annual
  • US5: $123,900 - $206,500 USD Annual
  • US10: $129,800 - $216,400 USD Annual
  • US15: $135,700 - $226,200 USD Annual
  • US20: $141,600 - $236,000 USD Annual
  • US30: $153,400 - $255,700 USD Annual
