Description

The Strategic Sourcing Director at Hyper Solutions plays a critical leadership role in developing and executing the company's strategic sourcing strategy that supports rapid growth in the mission-critical data center industry. This position is responsible for building a resilient, scalable, and cost-effective supplier network while ensuring the availability of critical materials, components, and manufacturing capacity across Hyper's distributed manufacturing ecosystem.


Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership, the Strategic Sourcing Director leads supplier strategy, commodity management, contract negotiations, supplier development, and supply chain risk management. This role directly influences Hyper's ability to deliver innovative infrastructure solutions through strong supplier partnerships, operational excellence, and long-term sourcing strategies.


This position is well-suited for a strategic supply chain leader who thrives in high-growth manufacturing environments and has a proven track record of building world-class sourcing organizations and executive-level supplier relationships.


Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Hyper's strategic sourcing roadmap to support business growth and manufacturing scalability 
  • Build executive-level partnerships with strategic suppliers and negotiate long-term commercial agreements 
  • Develop commodity strategies across transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, copper, fabricated components, electrical assemblies, and contract manufacturing 
  • Lead supplier capacity planning, business continuity, global sourcing initiatives, and supply chain risk mitigation 
  • Partner with Engineering on supplier selection, new product introductions, value engineering, and design for manufacturability 
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on inventory optimization, ERP enhancements, operational scalability, and cost reduction 
  • Develop supplier performance management programs, governance models, and executive business reviews 
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing strategic sourcing organization 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, and Executive Leadership with sourcing strategy and supplier performance insights 
  • Develop business cases using total cost of ownership (TCO), financial analysis, and market intelligence 
  • Monitor market conditions, supplier performance, and industry trends to proactively manage sourcing strategies 
  • Drive ERP optimization and data-driven decision making, preferably within NetSuite 
  • Support global sourcing initiatives and international supplier development 
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen sourcing processes and organizational capabilities
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, or procurement leadership within manufacturing environments 
  • Proven experience developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies supporting complex manufacturing operations 
  • Executive-level experience negotiating strategic supplier agreements and long-term commercial contracts 
  • Experience leading supplier development, capacity planning, and supply chain risk management initiatives 
  • Strong financial acumen including total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and business case development 
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, and Sales 
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing sourcing teams 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and executive communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Operations Management 
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, CPM, or equivalent 
  • Experience within electrical equipment manufacturing, mission-critical infrastructure, engineered-to-order products, or industrial manufacturing 
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP platforms 
  • Experience leading Executive Business Reviews (EBRs) with strategic suppliers 
  • Experience supporting global sourcing, international suppliers, and contract manufacturing organizations

Location

Onsite in Richmond, VA preferred, or remote, depending on candidate location and business needs.


Compensation

The anticipated minimum hiring range for this role is $175,000 - $200,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
