Position Overview

• We are seeking an experienced an Athena-based Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support a fully remote telehealth practice focused on chronic disease management. This role partners closely with physicians to prepare patient charts, coordinate virtual patient workflows, support clinical documentation, and ensure a seamless telemedicine experience.
• The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Athena EMR, virtual patient care, and supporting patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

 
Key Responsibilities

• Support physicians in a fully remote telemedicine environment.
• Prepare and review patient charts prior to virtual appointments by gathering medical history, laboratory results, and completing documentation.
• Conduct virtual patient intake, check-in, and follow-up activities.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and appointment changes as needed.
• Update and maintain accurate patient records within Athena EMR.
• Collect insurance information and assist with general clinical administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with physicians and cross-functional care teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with established clinical workflows.

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
• 5+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Hands-on experience using Athena EMR (required).
• Experience supporting patients in a telemedicine/virtual care environment.
• Experience working with patients managing chronic diseases, preferably diabetes, hypertension, or obesity.
• Strong understanding of clinical documentation and chart preparation.
• Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.

• Experience supporting endocrinology, primary care, or chronic disease management programs.
• Experience reviewing laboratory data and preparing provider charts.
• Familiarity with virtual patient intake workflows and remote care coordination.
• Experience working with multiple clinical systems and healthcare technology platforms.
• Adaptable, collaborative team player who is receptive to feedback and thrives in a fast-changing environment.
