Overview:

GitHub's Integrated Marketing team is looking for a leader to serve as the developer audience marketing lead, content strategy, and leading key growth marketing motions and initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, product insight, and measurable impact.  

 

You'll focus on key growth marketing motions, build channel strategy, and partner with Product Marketing, Product, Social, Lifecycle, and Developer Relations to create lead our developer pod content strategy, build plans, and oversee content and journeys that inspire action. You'll turn data into narrative, and narrative into product adoption. 

 

You're someone who’s highly technical, you know developers, and you're well-versed in the AI landscape and modern software development. In this role, you'll act as a subject matter expert to lead content targeted developers, bringing a strong point of view on how to be clear, credible, and aligned to real workflows. You'll ensure content doesn't just reach developers, but reflects how they build, learn, and use tools in practice. 

 

You'll also lead end-to-end architecture of growth and marketing campaigns, execution planning across complex, cross-functional initiatives, analyze performance data to generate insights, and continuously improve how content drives sustained developer engagement. 

Responsibilities:
  • Lead GitHub's developer content strategy across awareness, consideration, and adoption — including briefs, timelines, and editorial planning. 

  • Create and edit content that hits a high quality bar and focuses on topics developers care about. 

  • Translate developer insights and product telemetry into actionable messaging, content themes, and campaigns that drive activation and retention. 

  • Partner with Product and PMM to align positioning, messaging, and campaigns designed to sustain product engagement. 

  • Work with Lifecycle to build onboarding, nurture, and reactivation email series. 

  • Build content strategy to support paid media and creative execution. 

  • Define and measure success by analyzing KPIs across campaigns, products, and revenue outcomes. 

  • Identify patterns in developer engagement and behavior to refine strategy and improve how developers interact with products over time. 

  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leadership, to inform decision-making. 

  • Guide how campaign assets come to life across channels (web, lifecycle, paid media, events), ensuring consistency and relevance. 

  • Act as a quality bar for how campaigns show up to developers — flagging when messaging feels overly promotional, abstract, or disconnected from real usage. 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in content writing, content design, journalism, or related field
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in English, Writing, Literature, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Philosophy, or related field AND 8+ years experience in content writing, content design, journalism, or related field
    • o OR equivalent experience.
  •  3+ years experience leading cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders/teams (e.g., Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Communications, Executive Communications, Demand Generation) or establishing processes in cross-functional projects.

  • Background in Developer Relations, technical writing or developer content creation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across cross-functional teams, including Product Marketing, Paid Media, Lifecycle, and Web. 

  • Experience working in a high-tech or digital-native company, preferably in developer tools, SaaS, cloud, AI, or platform-based businesses. 

  • A background in DevRel or technical writing.

  • Prior experience as a software developer, engineer, or in a hands-on technical role, with a strong understanding of developer workflows, tools, and environments. 

  • Proven ability to translate data and research into actionable messaging and campaigns. 

  • Experience analyzing content and campaign performance. 

Compensation Range: The base salary range for this job is USD $97,400.00 - USD $258,600.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
